Obama: US Shares Responsibility for Mexican Violence; Says he supports the 2nd Amendment

President Obama and Mexican President Calderon gave a joint statement following Calderon's visit to Washington. Among a host of topics were discussions about the border, cartel violence, and gun smuggling. Asked a sightly off topic question, Obama today made what may be his first direct comments on the 2nd Amendment since taking office. Responding to a Mexican reporter's inquiry as to why he does not veto the 2nd amendment, President Obama pointed out a few things. First he mentioned that the 2nd Amendment is part of the Constitution and that he is bound by the Constitution. That statement alone carries a hefty dose of hypocrisy. But Obama went on to say that he supports the 2nd Amendment as a law that guarantees US citizens the right to carry a firearm as protection, for hunting, and a host of other reasons.

Leaving the topic of the 2nd Amendment, the President mentioned that the US and Mexico share blame for the violence in Mexico. When asked about whether or not he would push the government of Mexico to allow American agents to carry guns, the President made a point of saying that we need to protect the sovereignty of Mexico and respect their laws. No such statement was made by President Calderon about US sovereignty. We already know that both Obama and Calderon do not respect the laws of Arizona. Since Arizona drafted their immigration law to mirror federal immigration law, it can be said that neither leader respects the laws of the US. Though the President used his words to support the sovereignty of Mexico, his actions in Arizona will serve to undermine the sovereignty of the United States.

Obama focused his answers and a considerable amount of his prepared statement on plans to work with the Mexican government to limit the flow of drugs coming into the US. He also mentioned that all rail traffic going into Mexico would be checked for weapons. Outside of the oft repeated call for comprehensive immigration reform, Obama did not mention illegal immigration.

President Calderon for his part thanked the President for his efforts in stopping guns from going south, but pointed out that other administrations have tried this as well and failed. Calderon called for sealing the border using non intrusive technology. His point was that the border can be tightened up in order to stop the flow of guns going south and drugs going north. No mention was made of sealing the border against the flow of illegal immigrants.

Does he mean “share” as in when his administration let these thugs cross the border, bring weapons etc.?

Yep.

But, to be fair, America is the “demand” part of the equation.

We’ve got to come to grips with the utterly FAILED WO(S)D and try something that might work. As it is, we’ve been trying the same thing that ISN’T working, again and again.

Those drug runners aren’t dealing in pesos.

According to late news the ATF has deliberately allowed hundreds of US purchased gun to be smuggled into Mexico for some idiotic notion they could entrap high level drug cartel bosses. DUH!

I can’t believe nobody is talking about how he stuck to the story that US weapons are somehow fueling cartel violence in light of the project gunwalker evidence.

So somehow, to the liberal mind this makes sense...

That it is our demand for illegal drugs that causes the problems on the Mexican supply-side. So is it the fault of the Mexican demand for firearms that is similarly at fault? Of course not! We are also at fault for being the suppliers of firearms to the Mexican demand.

Hmm, so who gets the blame in the liberal mind? The demand-side or the supply-side, oh wait, that's right, the liberal mind is free of the bounds of logic. Somehow we get to be responsible for both.

U.S. shares the responsibility for Mexican Violence

Yep, ask the Dept. of Justice, ATF and FBI about "Gunwalker". That is as far as the blame goes.....

FUBO!

I agree. The US government does share the blame, and he’s running the US government.

Responding to a Mexican reporter’s inquiry as to why he does not veto the 2nd amendment,

"veto the Second Amendment"

A perfect example of the total and complete lack of any concept of American government by a average (slightly above average!) mexican.

This is the very reason the illegals must be stopped, not given so much as the slightest delusional hope of an amnesty, mandatory immediate deportation upon detection to country of origin with hard labor for second and subsequent detection in the u.S.

Revocation of ALL intentional anchor baby citizenships, absolutely no medical care beyond critical/immediate life threatening, and no, repeat NO social or welfare benefits AT ALL. Not one frickin thin dime of any benefit from any source.

MANDENTORY prison time for employers hiring illegal aliens. Prosecution for any property owner or landlord renting, leasing or selling to an illegal alien, including straw rental, lease or sale.

Remove any and all possible incentives to be here OTHER THAN legal, by the book, paperwork and ID totin immigration.

.

This would be like sending soldiers to battle without weapons to defend themselves. If they can’t carry weapons, they shouldn’t be sent to Mexico.

I bet Sheik Bam Bam’s knees are really sore tonight. Do you think Calderon even kissed him first.

It’s like I’m not even living in the United States anymore.

The war on drugs is worthless. Drug control is worthless and unconstitutional. Legalize and regulate and take the profits away from the scum...

If you do manage to clean up the Mexican border, the drugs will come in somewhere else. Simple as that. It is in some humans nature to consume mind altering substances. We had no bogus rules into the early 1900’s when the federal government first started taking away freedoms.

How hard is it to build a border fence? That will stop a lot of the problems.

TIJUANA, Mexico – Eight Mexican soldiers have been arrested for transporting nearly a ton of cocaine near the border city of Tijuana.....http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110303/ap_on_re_la_am_ca/lt_drug_war_mexico;_ylt=AprPZ38uRHGsHfHx9ieDRha3IxIF;_ylu=X3oDMTJvcGMwZnJrBGFzc2V0A2FwLzIwMTEwMzAzL2x0X2RydWdfd2FyX21leGljbwRwb3MDNARzZWMDeW5fcGFnaW5hdGVfc3VtbWFyeV9saXN0BHNsawM4bWV4aWNhbnRyb28-
These drug cartels are getting weapons from the Mexico military, It would of been interesting if Obama pressed,Mexican President Calderon , about this :The Mexican drug cartels heading south over to GUATEMALA.

GUATEMALA CITY, Feb. 26 (UPI) — Guatemalan President Alvaro Colom says the Central American country is facing a “permanent invasion” by drug cartels fleeing Mexico.

He has deployed hundreds of army troops to Alta Verapaz, a province just south of Mexico, to help root out Los Zetas, a powerful Mexican drug gang, The Wall Street Journal reported.

“We’re facing a permanent invasion,” Colom said.

Colom declared a state of siege in Alta Verapaz, allowing police to make arrests and search homes without a warrant.

Since he declared the state of siege in late December about 25 suspects have been arrested and more than $1.2 million in illegal items have been confiscated, including cash, drugs and assault rifles and grenades.

exactly, if you look at the photos of major gun and drug busts in Mexico. There are fully auto weapons, RPG etc.

I have been to gun shows in AZ and you can not buy an RPG. Foreign governments and arms dealer have a much greater impact on Mexican violence than do gun shows in the border states.

I was shocked when I heard the question. But was even more shocked when Obama claimed to support the 2nd amendment.
