"Hey fellas just came across a bit of interesting info while researching on Gen Daniel 'Chappie' James: James assumed command of Wheelus Air Force Base, Libya in 1969, in the wake of Colonel Muammar Khadafys coup. James recalled an incident with Khadafy shortly after the takeover. One day Khadafy ran a column of half tracks through my baseright through the housing area at full speed. I shut the barrier down at the gate and met Khadafy a few yards outside it. He had a fancy gun and a holster and kept his hand on it. I had my .45 in my belt. I told him to move his hand away. If he had pulled that gun, he never would have cleared his holster. They never sent any more half tracks.

I had the pleasure of working for the Gen. when he was in command of NORAD.
I was stationed there during the six day war.
Those half tracks musta run over the lawn of the month
No one messes with “lawn of the month”
He as a helluva Commander and damned nice guy...
JR, that was a rather snarky remark...was your remark toward Chappie or the Military in general?
Didn’t know he flew with Gen. Robin Olds....great team

I was a zoomie. Don't make me set down my coffee cup and get out of my swivel chair. It'll be ugly. ;)

So you know some of the truth about UFO’s.
anything you can share?
Chappie James was a staunch conservative. At the time of his untimely death by heart attack, he was said to be considering a run for US Senate in Florida as a Republican.
Back in 1963, I was stationed at a very small NATO base in Italy’s “bootheel,” near Brindisi. I got hurt playing flag football one afternoon. A kick in the shin resulted in a blood infection and the medics at the base clinic were going to medevac me to Wheelus AB. I was definitely up for that, a chance to visit Africa! But they were able to sort out the issue and I never got medevacked.
