I was in the Marine Corps in the mid sixties, and after Boot Camp, we all underwent "ITR" (Infantry Training Regiment) at Camp Pendleton....one of the NCO training guys was a black Corporal named "General James" - therefore, he was officially Corporal General James.
During these few weeks, he suddenly disappeared - turned out he'd gone to Oceanside and gotten drunk enough to get in trouble, so he got busted to Private.....making him "Private General James".
