Madison is becoming an even bigger disaster for the Democrats. They have now undercut their top talking point agianst the Republicans in the budget battle. Mark Hemingway raises a great question in the Weekly Standard:
"If it's so "reckless" to shutdown the government, why have Wisconsin legislators, the President and the DNC all supported the government shutdown in Wisconsin? Not only that, they have shutdown the government by fleeing the state and breaking the law, not to mention the illegal union strikes shutting down schools and national Democrats helping to organize the angry mob descending on Madison."
Hat tip: Hot Air
Sorry, the MSM is working hard to protect the cowards. Hopefully the box will slam shut.
OK, let us look at the facts.
If the dems push the state into bankruptcy, the union contracts can be totally eliminated anyway and start all over from scratch which means the government will have the power to draw up the contracts for union workers any way they want which would mean the elimination of collective bargaining anyway.
Also, by forcing the state into bankruptcy means that thousands of union workers most of them teachers or non essential personnel (police and firefighters would be exempted) would be laid off or fired because the state could not afford to pay them.
This is happening all over the country and the dems and unions are scared shitless because they realize the unsustainability of their positions.
Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about eleven (11) things they did not and will not learn in school.
He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teachings
created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and
how this concept set them up for failure in the real world.
Rule 1 : Life is not fair - get used to it!
Rule 2 : The world doesn’t care about your self-esteem.
The world will expect you to accomplish something
BEFORE you feel good about yourself.
Rule 3 : You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school.
You won’t be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.
Rule 4 : If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss
Rule 5 : Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity.
Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping:
They called it opportunity.
Rule 6 : If you mess up, it’s not your parents’ fault, so
don’t whine about your mistakes, learn from them.
Rule 7 : Before you were born, your parents weren’t as boring as
they are now. They got that way from paying your bills,
cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about
how cool you thought you were.
So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent’s generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.
Rule 8 : Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but
life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades
and they’ll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer.
*This doesn’t bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.
Rule 9 : Life is not divided into semesters. You don’t get summers off and very few
employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF.
*Do that on your own time.
Rule 10 : Television is NOT real life.
In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.
Rule 11 : Be nice to nerds.
Chances are you’ll end up working for one.
If you can read this... Thank a Teacher.
If you can read this in English... Thank a Soldier!
And for life and everything else you have... Thank God!!
Now... think
about this and smile if you agree and
please pass this on...
If you don’t agree, go
stick your head in the sand and take a deep breath!
What might have started as a means to protect hard-working folks from abuse from employers has turned into a means to sustain lazy incompetent individuals drawing salaries they could never justify on their personal performance.
Unions have come a long way from their early days to what today continues just to be something that so closely functions as "organized crime"
What happened to the Win-Win understanding?
I "look for the union label" and know that I am paying too much for something that could easily be a poorly produced product.
I say that knowing there are great union workers out there turning out superior products everyday. But their system does not protect us and their industry from the incompetents that can no longer be managed.
And don't get me started on teachers.
I doubt this came from Gates unless he added:
(12) As long as Democrats run the government your every need will be provided by the government. Sit back and relax; let the taxpayers comfort you.
That’s fine for Gates to say all those things but how does he explain all the support and financing he has provided to liberals over the years?
When you have union workplaces with “non-working” union stewards and officials hanging around all day with nothing to do but stir up trouble, you get exactly what we’re seeing.
“And for life and everything else you have... Thank God!!”
I don’t believe Gates said this.
Gates has been quoted as saying there is no evidence for the existence of God.
Good Job thanks
Bill Gates said none of this, although the sentiments are admirable.
This must be old. When has anyone used the term ‘car phone’, let alone considered it a ‘perk’?
Well, how does he explain the universe and our wonderful planet, earth?
It’s an excerpt from the book “Dumbing Down our Kids” by educator Charles Sykes. It is a list of eleven things you did not learn in school and directed at high school and college grads.
