On Wednesday, about 1,000 teachers in Wisconsin called in sick to protest Governor Scott Walker's proposal to end collective bargaining for state employees.
But the protesters may be doing more harm to themselves than good.
A website calls the governor a "Mini-Mubarak" - a reference to the Egyptian dictator who left office after violent protests in that nation.
The site claims that "Gov. Scott Walker says the Wisconsin National Guard is prepared to respond wherever is necessary in the wake of his announcement that he wants to take away nearly all collective bargaining rights from state employees."
But Politifact rates the claim "Pants on Fire" - meaning the claim is patently false.
Politifact asked the progressive committee Citizen Action of Wisconsin for evidence backing up its claim that Walker threatened to summon the National Guard in response to protests, but found that none of the reports provided quoted Walker directly.
After reviewing what the Governor actually said, Politifact concluded:
The Progressive Change Campaign Committee said Walker "threatened to call out the National Guard if workers protest against these cuts!" The governor spoke of possibly calling up the Guard if state workers didnt show up for work, but he made no reference to using it in response to protests. And certainly none that would suggest the Guard is authorized to use force to impose anything on state workers.
As the saying goes, one is entitled to their own opinions, but not to their own facts.
Nevertheless, strikers were out in full force carrying signs calling Walker a dictator and comparing him to Mubarak.
One sign shows a target over the face of Governor Walker.
Remember the angst shown by liberals when Sarah Palin's PAC used clip art of targets on certain congressional districts?
Are these teachers calling for the murder...

Its likely this strike is in breach of the agreement between the State and the teacher’s union? If so, then like Reagan did to the air traffic controllers, can Walker fire them all?
Only 17% name themselves liberals. Won’t be much of a “revolution.” It will probably look more like the usual city protests and riots that have backfired on the Left in the past.
Parasites always scream when the host dies. That’s hardly a revolution.
I got the little guy on the right.
I say that PRO-WALKER people start getting out there to tell the crowd that they MUST give this man some time! I mean, he has been in office less than a month! He needs time to clean up the mess left by the last Administration.
I am...although I will amend that to PUBLIC school teachers...they have been robbing us blind and indoctrinating our children for ages...where do you think liberals come from? :-)
No. It’s the beginning of a Tax Payer revolution.
ROTFLMAO!!! Classic!
The union slugs will probably get their way even if the governor and legislature prevails - no doubt some federal judge will issue an injunction to prevent implementation of the law.
Isn’t this (as Glenn Beck pointed out) what that “sweet old lady” professor has been calling for? The one all the leftist politicians love?
How does it feel America, to see them rip our democratic institutions apart for their public union hegemony?
Well, it wouldn’t be fair to get 2-3 months off every year and not have enough money to go on a nice vacation! < /sarc>
bump
What we have is a piece of propaganda on the way ~ except here the story has only the slightest connection to the truth.
That was great... LOL
Barking up the wrong tree...I didn’t post the list of salaries; although it would be nice to see a list of teacher salaries...
Thousands of state union workers protest in Madison, while millions of Wisconsin taxpayers stay home and on the job so they can afford the taxes the unions have already burdened them with.
All of this was PLANNED. We need to follow the money.
I don’t think any of those names listed are members of the state employee unions, although I could be wrong. How about the names and salaries of the Union Leaders, along with their home addresses?
