A public servant who comes forward with a (quite obviously) sincere and painful story of their abuse at the hands of a sexual predator deserves our compassion, not our scorn.

He deserves to have his judgement questioned. Why does he feel the need to tell the world?

I would say, that is Sen. Brown’s decision alone to make. Abuse such as he suffered leaves deep emotional scars, including a misplaced sense of guilt. For many victims, speaking openly about what happened to them is cathartic, even if it sometimes makes others uncomfortable.
