In the latest sign of an increasingly antagonistic stand by Democrats against top GOP oversight official Rep. Darrell Issa, President Obama declined a request for a top economic adviser to testify before an oversight panel about the presidents economic stimulus law. Obama spokesman Reid Cherlin indicated the move will be part of a general policy against top White House aides testifying before Congress, potentially setting the stage for a showdown on later, more important hearings.

PS thats his middle finger...
Obama believes he is the supreme law of the land, and everyone is responsible to him and to him allow. Look at his contempt of Courts regarding the Moratarium on Oil Drilling, The Supreme Courts decision on McCain-Feingold Law and Corporate Donations. What about the Florida Courts Judge DVinson’s Decision regarding ObamaCare? He is contempt of evry issue that is passed that is contrary to his viewpoint. The Republican leadership in DC has no backbone. Boehner will cave like the whiney little girl that he is. Be prepared to grab your ankles pretty soon because Obama will continue to be contentious and arrogant.

Reid Cherlin that makes it sound as though Obama may be moving farther down the road of quashing all meaningful investigation:
The subpoena raises complicated legal questions because the administrations obligation to protect the institution of the presidency is in conflict with the committees desire to get to the truth, presidential spokesman Reid Cherlin said in an e-mail.
Between this and the Dems dumping on Issa’s past he should start issuing subpoenas concerning Obama’s eligibility..Get off the pot Issa!
I’d have Abercrombie,Mike Evans the reporter along with HDOH subpoena for records being served right now.
Right. Constitutionally, the only people that Congress prosecutes - and it's a civil prosecution - are people who are impeachable. As you probably know, people are impeached by the House, and tried in the Senate. There is no criminal prosecution procedure available to Congress, other than referral of charges to the USA.
As for the discretion of the USA and AG to actually file charges upon the receipt of the referral, it is theirs alone. There is a well-known Office of Legal Counsel opinion from the mid-80s, that stated there is no statutory obligation on the USA. And, even if the USA went as far as to impanel a Grand Jury obtain a true bill, there still is no statutory obligation. The USA retains complete prosecutorial discretion.
The last Criminal Contempt of Congress charges came close to being referred (to my memory)for administration officials, came back in 2007 for Rove & Miers. I believe that was settled with both Rove & Miers testifying, but not under oath.
An Old Whiffenpoof? Oh, how jolly!
What about the Czars Obama has appointed? How does this apply to them?
What a wonderful opportunity for the House to freeze all budget matters until the White House complies with all subpoenas. The President is starving the nation. Obama is Obstructing America. Criminal Acts and Criminal Cronies, should be the cry of every Republican in Congress. No Man is above the law. Bumper Sticker Time.
Use the tactics the left has planned for the Republicans on Budget Cuts before they can use them on us.
Yup.
No testimony to Congress, no money to your department. No exceptions.
No compliance with federal judicial decisions, no money for your department. No exceptions.
Executive-Privilege THAT.
OBEY.
THE.
LAW.
Respect the people, the people's representatives, and the Constitution--the highest law of the land, the one that it seems they have particular disdain for. Or expect Contempt, not only of Congress, but of the people.
I do not think it being decided that the Executive is in contempt provides any meaningful constraint upon 0marxo. We already see him objectively in contempt as far as the gulf drilling ban and demonstrably in contempt as to going forward with health care reform implementation.
When the rule of law is ignored by law breakers then punishment e.g. force/enforcement is necessary e.g. arrest warrants and imprisonment...
I know they will fall flat or at least not be followed through in the Senate but this stuff is serious and Obama and his bunch have performed impeachable acts.
Issa has so far refused to subpoena the Obama birth records. Obama probably thinks Issa’s a pushover.
Nothing unusual here, nor is it a sign of an increasing antagonistic relationship between Dems and 'Pubbies. It is virtally standard procedure for sitting presidents to refuse to allow members of their staff to testify before Congress.
This is truly much ado about nothing and a tempest in a teapot if ever there was one!!
If one uses the previous administrations actions concerning subpoenas, I would say Congressional subpoenas are meaningless. The unfortunate consequence of ‘what goes around, comes around’.

Wonder what will happen if Issa wants a Czar to testify?
that would really blow up, no congressional oversight at all.
Would almost seem .. socialist
Notice in that piture that Obama has his MIDDLE FINGER up to his cheek.......he is a PUNK GHETTO THUG!!
This is pure strategy on Obama’s part. Time is on his side...until it isn’t.
If the media bury this he’ll play it out until he’s forced to. He and his entire administration are focused on getting him a second term.
Recall that he won with a plurality and if the GOP fronts candidates that are unelectable Obama will skate back in.
“Any knowledgeable Freeper able to discuss the use of Congressional subpoena’s? When are they enforceable? When are they not, etc? “
As I understand it, Congress has the RIGHT to toss ANYONE resisting a subpoena in JAIL. It is up to Congress to use that right...or be laughed at.
GOING to have???
