On Feb 10, while addressing a question about the Muslim Brotherhood from the House Intelligence Committee, James Clapper Director of National Intelligence responded, The term Muslim Brotherhood is an umbrella term for a variety of movements, in the case of Egypt, a very heterogeneous group, largely secular, which has eschewed violence and has decried Al Qaeda as a perversion of Islam.
In the case of Egypt, [it is] a very heterogeneous group, largely secular, which has eschewed violence and has decried Al Qaeda as a perversion of Islam
This isnt the first Gen Clappers public faux pas. In an interview in 2010 Diane Sawyer asked the director about twelve alleged would-be terrorists who had been arrested in Great Britain earlier in the day. His only response was a classic deer in the headlights look that you would get from a student receiving news of a pop quiz.
The Muslim Brotherhood
The Society of the Muslim Brothers or commonly called Muslim Brotherhood was founded in Egypt in 1928 as a social group and boasts it is the worlds most influential Islamist movement. They are a religious based political movement that wishes to impose the teachings of the Quran and impose Islamic or Sharia Law on the world. As for eschewing violence, one has to ask why the brotherhood murdered President Sadat in 1981 in compliance with a fatwa issued by Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman?
James R. Clapper Jr.
Retired Air Force Lieutenant General has spent the majority of his career in Military Intelligence before taking command as the Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency. In 2007 he was nominated by President George W. Bush to be Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence. In 2010 Gen. Clapper was appointed Director of National Intelligence by President Obama

I’m going to guess that Hillary will resign in the next two weeks.
General Clapper is a very intelligent man - obummer probably pulled him aside and told him what he was supposed to say when asked about the MB.
Is this to begin prep for the 2012 Dem primaries, or just spend more time at home with Huma?
yah...they tried to walk back what he said, but if you listen to the whole statement he made, in context and without interruption it is clear that he doesn’t have a frackin’ clue what he is talking about. This was not just a work used in error, or some portion of a larger thought taken out of context.
The whole statement was extremely disturbing considering who he is and the position he presently occupies; he can’t just walk it back...
Its not only this sorry spectacle or the partisan gotcha traps CIA bureaucrats were springing on President Bush in time of war, and Janet Napolitano’s refusal to focus on people who are likely to be terrorists.
No doubt that we have many capable intelligence operatives. But government liberals just refuse to take foreign intelligence seriously. They stuff organizations like the CIA and the DHS with bureaucrats who don’t know or care anything about their trade.
I just think she’s tired of the whole thing...That Obama treats her like dirt...That the party gave her a raw deal...and no matter what she does...she won’t be happy. At least she won’t have Obama as a boss.
That's been my take - he was told what to say. It must have galled him to know he would be looked upon as a fool. Let's hope he's around long enough to one day tell the truth.
I further suspicion that Murbarak has known from the get-go who was behind this whole movement and that, after the first 2 or 3 public outrageous effrontery by "The Won" , he cut off all diplomatic communications with DC - which is why the pronouncements coming from the WH were delayed, confused, behind the curve, etc - they were left getting THEIR information from the same place we did - television. (And might this not be why Clapper was left like a deer in the headlights re the London affari? Perhaps the UK and other countires are reluctant to share intelligence with our present regime - perhaps because it then gets leaked to our enemies?)
AND, I suspicion that Murbarak, aged and dying of cancer - knowing he would soon be no longer able to hold things together, orchestrated the whole 'coup' in order to keep the MB out, as he has for decades, and hand the reins over to his respected - in country and out - military, which would be acceptable by the people.
They have already announced that the treaty with Israel will be upheld...
Mubarak threw his public image on the sword to save the country the loves?
Would that WE had a president that loved his country so.
'bummer may have just got a lesson in REAL world governance and a message: "You're playing with the big boys now, jacka*s."
Chicago Community Organizer thuggery may work in Chicago - and DC, and Kenya - but not in the BIG world, little boy.
Re Post #8 - well said. Very well said.
Thank you - “VA?”

He probably got that straight from DUmmieland. In fact, I wonder what his DUmmie screenname is?
