This was an unbelievable, awe inspiring event and perhaps one of the greatest moments in human history for people power.

And we know this how?

Because the media says so?

Leaders of all countries, including ours, should take note as to what the people can do if pushed to far.

The Egyptian constitution requires that the Speaker of the Assembly immediately replaces the President and that an election takes place within 60 days after that.

It's been observed that a 60-day period is not a terribly long time for a new candidate to organize a campaign unless, of course, the new candidate has a highly evolved organization in place.

Like the Muslim Brotherhood, for instance.

There is little doubt that the shift towards democracy will be messy, it always is; and it remains to be seen how many challenges and how much insecurity will be tolerated in their quest for freedom.

Yup. Tell the 1917 Russians about it. As well as the 1978 Iranians. And the 1959 Cubans. Etc, ad nauseam...
Yes, "the shift towards democracy will be messy" ... and oft times nonexistent.

Besides, who wants a "democracy" anyways? That's mob rule.
What you want is a Constitutional Republic with democratic elections... We used to have one of those.

It remains to be seen whether democracy has anything to do with all this. So far all we have is a mob and some grim behind-the-scenes powerseekers waiting to pounce.

As for the military, who knows what their true allegiances are. The lesson of Turkey is that the military today is no guarantee against islamic fascism.

Frankly, I’m burned out on this story.
I’m more concerned with what is or more importantly what is not going on in this country.
Job - Economy - Obamacare -

Nothing good ever comes from Islam, including Islamic Democracy.

The useful idiots (young people brainwashed by academia, pop culture and the internet) do the heavy lifting and provide the bodies and votes needed to cause revolution. Obama did this in the US, with his willing lapdog media, and now the idiot Ipad-seeking Egyptian 19 year olds will usher in fundamental Islam.

The author, like all Liberals, is utterly celebrating what will be the 2nd cog in the Muslim push in the Middle East. Palestine, Syria, Turkey could all be next.

Always post blogs in the bloggers forum.

Do NOT post them in the news section.

Thanks.

From The Telegraph (UK):

"Hosni Mubarak resigns: Mahmoud Ahmadinejad hails 'a new Middle East' Iran's president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Friday claimed the uprising in Egypt and removal of Hosni Mubarak heralded a new Middle East without the "satanic" influence of the West and that will doom Israel."

This is a disaster for US interests, and the Middle East as well. It will go downhill from here. The only possible good that can come from this is if the full scope of the disaster becomes apparent before our 2012 election so BO can be awarded full credit. The Egyptians will end up in chains, as miserable and oppressed and (still) poor as the Iranians, with mullahs cracking the whip over their lives.

Oh puh-leeze!

I bet there won't be any democracy or people rule. They will just go from one bad ruler to a worse one. Look at all the other revolutions in the world. The Russians threw out the tzar, only to end up with the mass murder Stalin. The Chinese replaced their leaders with Mao and millions died and they live under communism. The French got rid of the king and then had to live under Robespierre who went chopping off heads of those who disagreed with him. The Iranians threw off the the Shah and are now stuck with the ayatollah and Ahmadinjad. The notable exception is the American Revolution, because America based her principles on the Bible.
