I got this e-mail today from Honeyville Farms:
As many of you know we have been out of stock on our #10 cans of Powdered Whole Eggs and Egg Whites for about 3 months. This has been as a result of working with the USDA on plant and label approval with new stricter requirements with respect to eggs. We've endured numerous delays and setbacks throughout the process. About a week ago we had received approval to begin Production. We did so and even had product on UPS trailers ready to be picked up. We got a call from the USDA stating that they had put us through the wrong process and we would have to start over again. We had to pull all of the outbound orders and go back into a holding pattern. At this point we are moving through the process but have no idea when we'll be back in business with the canned eggs. It is a frustrating situation with one of our best sellers and we apologize for the delay. Just as soon as we have product ready to ship we will send out an email to all of our great Honeyville Customers. We appreciate your patience.
Luckily I am presently stocked up on powder eggs and egg whites so this isn't effecting me, but its a good example of how tedious and broken our Federal bureaucracy is become.
USDA incompetence or harrassment of some sort?
I just got the same email and posted it five minutes after you did (I’m a newbie and a bit slow at posting...). I was wondering at the liklihood that the USDA is hindering the process for Honeyville on purpose? Thoughts? Or, am I’m clearly going nuts, here? :-)
I hate the govt!!!
“lets pass a law, and then decide how to implement it”. gee, this is becoming a trend.
How many former service men here on FR have eaten powdered eggs that were not blessed with current USDA oversight?
Mission accomplished.
Known by many as a “bureaucratic SNAFU”. These will be the same people sitting on the Democrats/Obamacare Death Panels.
This is one of the many ways our government is becoming a fascist collusion of governmental and corporate interests.
The power to regulate and tax is the power to destroy.
Onerous regulation (often written by, or hand in hand alongside legislators) is a tool that large corporations use to drown out any likely competition from small corporations.
This isn’t just bureaucratic incompetence — it is part of the ongoing string of deliberate government attacks on the food supply for the citizen population, much like the Russians fabricated a famine to starve the Ukrainians.
You think the US Government is trying to starve the American people?
My friend is going through the same certification crap....with his organic fish farm s$$t fertilizer.
See Hope Valley, for one.
See Wolf re-Introduction, for another; etc., etc.
There's a long list of "see also" items, but you either already are paying attention, or you never will.
So you think the purpose of wolf re-introduction is to starve the American people?
IMHO - It’s the same step the socialists have taken in every other industry - bring down the competition.
Regulate, bankrupt, repeat for each private sector.
It's not just what I think.
There was a UN document on Sustainable Development posted on or linked to from FR about twelve years ago that stated the multiple purposes of creating the Bio-diversity areas across the USA.
One of the purposes was to diminish the wildlife food sources for people living in the rural areas; and simultaneously, to "encourage" those people to move into the more controllable "human" habitats, i.e. the cities.
Of course, you probably wouldn't put any stock in what those commie UN people put in their documents back then. They probably were just joking, weren't they?
They are incompetent, but their goal is harrassment
Yep, they get a bit of “power” and it goes to their heads.
Wow.
I am glad I got my order in October.
Maybe people can make a point of ordering from them to help them out over a tuff spot, brought to you by your friendly fascist state government.
