I don't think that ever works. I remember Howard Phillips or some other hardcore conservative ran in a crowded Massachusetts Democrat primary once. The thinking was, there had to still be 15%-20% blue collar Dems. He'd grab them all and the lefties would knock each other off. I think he came in 7th.
