Governor Palin Sounded Like Another Illinois Politician From 1860

A RESPONSE TO THE BLOOD LIBEL OF 1860 by Abraham Lincoln:

"You charge that we stir up insurrections among your slaves. We deny it; and what is your proof? Harper’s Ferry! John Brown!! John Brown was no Republican; and you have failed to implicate a single Republican in his Harper’s Ferry enterprise. If any member of our party is guilty in that matter, you know it or you do not know it. If you do know it, you are inexcusable for not designating the man and proving the fact. If you do not know it, you are inexcusable for asserting it. . ."

Reader Joe Pompeo writes: “Based upon the Lincoln quote it would appear that Sarah Palin, rather than acting ‘unpresidential’ in her response this week as her critics claim, was acting quite presidential after all. Even Lincoln-esque.” Does this mean that if we elect Sarah Palin President, New York, Massachusetts and California will secede?

They attack Sarah because they know her video speech was FAR more presidential than the Kenyan’s.

This “polarizing” talk is pathetic.

Some of the best President we ever had were polarizing. Lincoln, Truman, Jackson

Can we kick their asses even if they don't?

I hope she could be a better president than the CURRENT president from Illinois.

They attacked her for not saying anything for 3 days.

Jonah Goldberg put it this way......”...they would still attack her for her use of semicolons.”

I would dance in the streets if New York, California and Massachusetts left the Union.

Careful, big guy. There are plenty of conservatives in Massachusetts just like me. Don’t confuse the pervasive corruption of the political system with the citizens. Sure, there are plenty of moonbats here but who’s going to counter them? You?

Give your brothers and sisters on the front lines some support, huh?

Were New York, California and Massachusetts to leave the Union and then, formally, allied themselves with Russia, would the Monroe Doctrine still apply?

I doubt many elected officials even acknowledge the Monroe Doctrine. In high school, I got into a heated argument with my English teacher who advocated the existence of a communist Nicaragua, and I hammered him with the Monroe Doctrine. He folded like a cheap tent. Stupid teacher.

Let's expel them from his "perpetual" Union.

Heck, I'll through in Michigan- and I live here! All conservatives are welcome elsewhere.

Honestly, I'd be very curious at the political affiliation of those leaving California and Michigan.

So why are you citing Lew Rockwell and your own blog on this thread? Trying to stir up trouble?

New York, Massachusetts and California (etc.) will secede?

We could "let them go", but allow any portions that wished to stay in the United States to form new states - the precedent was set with West Virginia.

The Rats playbook hasn’t changed in over 150 years.

And the Republicans are still falling for their lies.

I am not a fan of Abraham Lincoln, but he is spot on in that comment. John Brown was a nut, and to blame Lincoln (who wasn’t even president when Brown jumped the shark at Harper’s Ferry) for Brown’s actions was a slander. There is more than enough to justify criticism of Lincoln, but John Brown at Harper’s Ferry is not among them.
