The other day outgoing White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs told us they were surprised by the applause at the pep rally memorial service in Tucson.
I will say that I read the speech several times and thought that there wouldnt be a lot of applause if any. I think many of us thought that. But I think there was a celebration, again, of the lives of those who had been impacted. Not just at that grocery store but throughout the country. And I think that, if that is part of the healing process, then thats a good thing.
Thats odd, since the Jumbotron instructed people to applaud.
Fake, but accurate.
And the media gushed orgasmic fluids, while the $14 Trillion Deficit, and Fascism went on unchecked. And the Amerikan Publik slept peacefully in their coma.
It can also be the speech put up there in text for deaf viewers, and the speech has built-in pauses for expected applause for Obama’s copy, and someone forgot to take it out for the Jumbotron copy.
And do we really think someone was frantically typing away the words being read off TOTUS or was soft copy made available? Color me skeptical - this crew has been tacky since day one.
I saw a small part of the “big” show and was appalled at the applause during something that should have been somber.
With few department exceptions, the University of Arizona is nothing more than a glorified junior college. It has replaced the U. of Colorado as the sinkhole of corrupted education.
With a speech written for the president would they just have someone typing the words, or would the speech be given as written. The more I think about this the more I think it was canned and in the speech. Why take the chance that someone would mistype something and why make the deaf wait to see the speech.
ALso why would he pause at that moment.
Why engage in conjecture here over something as vanilla as closed-captioning? There are plenty of proven and validatible reasons to get after what happened at that memorial service that turned into a rally. We don’t have to create issues - that’s what the left does.
sigh
How about because it's easy and requires zero thought or reflection? How about that?
Hmmmm...could be. I wouldn’t put it past them but, I would need to see more proof then this.
Ive never seen closed captioning on a jumbotronat a live event. If it was on someone’s tv it wouldn’t eb on the jumbotron itself.
Still, my bigger issue is Obama himself courted the applause and you could tell because he raised his voice and changed his tone numerous times just as he was coming to his applause lines. Watch Bush at Va Tech or even Clinton at OKC. they spoke in the same even, somber tone throughout. No courting applause. Obama lapsed into campaig rally mode plenty of times.
Also, he easily could have taken a second after the 1st major applause and said “I know you’re all excited, but lets all show some respect, there’s no need to applaud” That would have taken care of it and there would have been no more applause.
Oh my God....how low can one get? That is about as loathesome as anything I have seen. Shame on that whole crowd. Not much different from that other fiasco after that person died in a plane crash. Can’t remember his name but it was the most disgraceful gathering of people who had no shame. Much like this.
I’d also ask the question if the jumbotron feed came from the TOTUS script a) does the bestest orator in our lifetime really need to be told when to pause for applause (of course he does) and b) this is proof that the intent all along was to generate applause.
...as is giving away memorial T-shirts.
There you go. A non-story by our side.
Shamefull.
[We’d need to see video time-sequenced with audio to see which came first, they type or the sound.]
Then we would have to listen to this creep’s speech...
We should have no part of this non-story.
Feel free to bow out, then, but some of us would like to know whether this was indeed closed captioning (and the feedback effect) or if the speechwriter expected the applause points.
