Closed captioning recognition of applause or not, it certainly had a feedback effect and I am sure most of the crowd took it as an instruction. We'd need to see video time-sequenced with audio to see which came first, they type or the sound.
And do we really think someone was frantically typing away the words being read off TOTUS or was soft copy made available? Color me skeptical - this crew has been tacky since day one.
