Glenn Beck criticizes Tucson memorial, compares it to Wellstone memorial debacle

Glenn Beck criticizes Tucson memorial, compares it to Paul Wellstone memorial debacle. A day after the Barack Obama-attended Tucson memorial for the victims of the Jared Loughner killing spree, Glenn Beck has nothing kind to say about the raucous crowd that seemed to think it was at, as Beck put it, a high school pep rally. Beck went on to address the inappropriate and zany behavior of the memorial crowd, comparing them to what occurred at the late Senator Paul Wellstone’s memorial more than eight years ago. At that memorial, opportunistic and exploitative Democrats used what was supposed to be a memorial for the late senator to fire up their voter base and make politically charged talking points, all in the hopes of winning the election for the late senator’s seat (which they eventually lost to Norm Coleman).

Most likely, this slogan along with the shirts were already done, sitting in a warehouse and the left just waited for the right opportunity to use them.

I agree, this just turned out to be an opportunity to roll out Obama's new campaign slogan.

According to linkedin the company has only existed since 2010 and only has up to 50 employees. I worked for Midwest College Marketing for a while and spent days ironing decals onto t-shirts exactly like that.

Beck certainly did slam the memorial audience; what he didn’t do was fault Obama for its behavior which, Beck said, seemed to take the president by surprise.

However, I’m betting that the predictable response of a student-stacked audience was no surprise at all to Obama’s handlers.

Did the writer of this even listen to Beck? I don't think so.

Yes, Beck thought the jubilant crowd was acting inappropriately. We all did. And by the look on the Presidents face, he was taken back by it himself. But Beck on his TV and Radio show had tremendous praise for the presidents words and felt he said what needed to be said. The writer failed to include that in his Beck hit piece.

Rush also took the high road as far as the speech was concerned. However I suspect both Limbaugh and Beck realize the the speech isn’t the real story.

There’s something funny going on with the sloganeering and how quickly they managed to get shirts, stickers etc printed with a term Organizing for America has been using since at least 2008.

They never do. Having a robotlike audience is an advantage.

The following quote is from a story in the Tucson Sentinel that appeared on January 9, 2011. The story is at http://www.tucsonsentinel.com/local/report/010911_giffords_condition

“Giffords is in a drug-induced coma in intensive care. Doctors frequently awaken her to check her responsiveness, and she could open her eyes and respond to simple commands Sunday - an encouraging sign, said Rhee said.”

This proves that Obama’s claims that she opened her eyes for the first time immediately following a visit from Obama ARE A BLATANT LIE DESIGNED TO MAKE OBAMA LOOK GOOD and the media , including Fox, are complicit in parroting this outright lie.

If, God forbid, one of my family members had been killed or injured, I would have stayed as far away from the event as possible.

I also would have let it be known how disgraceful the event was.

Memorial services don’t involve applause & cheering & don’t give away free t-shirts!!

Yes: It is strange to me that not one TV station this morning had anything to say about Obama’s claim to be the Miracle man. Even Fox avoided mention of this blatant lie.

Obama not only claimed the miracle he claimed it three times, each time to cheers .

Everybody in Broadcasting is seemingly accepting this lie.

Obama never claimed to have performed a miracle.

He stated that Giffords’ husband told him that she had opened her eyes for the first time AFTER Obama was no longer present.

Strange...indeed.

I think they know they will be accused of being “vitriolic” and “uncivil”.

“Civil” is, I fear, the 2.0 version of political correctness. Very scary. I read a rumor, I think on FR, that Barry and The Machine are going to try to get the Reps and Dems to mix it up in the seating for the SOTU message. This really sunk my heart. Right out of the Communist playbook—Make it look like the “entire” group is behind you.

I'm sure if old Barry asks for it, rather publicly, and Boehner says anything but WHAT A FANTASTIC, UNITING, CIVIL IDEA he will be called a bunch of hateful names.

I am feeling down about our country this morning. I don't think a lot of people realize what we are dealing with.

I hope and pray that I am wrong. I'm also going to officially join a Tea Party organization in my area. Maybe becoming involved will give me some hope.

Then you're not boycotting anything. They have no idea whether you watch or not, and don't care, since you pay for it anyway. I'm not sure what the correct word is for something when you buy it but refuse to use it, but I don't think boycott is the correct term.

You could cancel your tv service. That would be a boycott.

“Also how did a new company (called Youth Movement) with 11 to 50 employees pull off the logistical nightmare of printing some 50,000 t-shirts, bumper stickers etc, in a matter of 3 days”

I researched California’s records...Youth Movement registered as a business on October 21, 2010. They are a brand new company.

How would such a large order go to a brand new company?

Who paid this $60,000 bill? On a no bid contract? Was this brand new company a prequalified contractor for the bookstore?

I think the answer to all of these questions is obvious: This company was set up by DNC operatives in California, in preparation for the 2012 campaign. Nothing wrong with that, I suppose. But somehow, the U of A got in touch with them (an out of state company), with this urgent and large order. I understand that this is the business these companies are in - they specialize in large urgent orders. But why not find a company in Arizona that does this? Phoenix is a big town - probably could have gone there.

I’d understand if U of A had a long established history with this company as their ‘go to’ source...but the company has a 70 day history. That’s it.

How did they get in contact with them? I’d say the administration made that phone call.

Praising Obama’s speech was a “Trap Tactic” by Beck. You know because the libs like to project and never do anything out of honor they will project this on Beck.

1. Obama clearly stated that Giffords’ husband was the one to tell him that Giffords had opened her eyes AFTER Obama had left the room. If you are willing to believe that Giffords’ husband intentionally lied about the critical condition of his beloved wife then you are far more cynical than is healthy.

2. The doctors stated that Giffords’ “landmark” was opening her eyes spontaneously; that recognizing the familiarity of her friends’ voices and responding to it was huge progress from opening her eyes to the doctors’ prodding.

3. You must be able to recognize the ridiculousness of implying that Rep. Giffords’ doctors, her husband, family members, friends, and colleagues are all conspiring together to create a lie that she opened her eyes, at a time when Obama was not even there. If there were going to try and attribute a “miracle” to Obama, don’t you think they’d at least conspire to say it happened when he was actually present?

Let’s be reasonable here.

Here is a link to a news story that clearly states that Giffords doctor said she had opened her eyes on Sunday: "Giffords is in a drug-induced coma in intensive care. Doctors frequently awaken her to check her responsiveness, and she could open her eyes and respond to simple commands Sunday - an encouraging sign, said Rhee said"
