Playing the Tucson Blame Game

The dead in Tucson were still lying on the street, and the injured were still being rushed to the hospital, when liberal pundits began concocting reasons to blame conservatives in general, and Sarah Palin in particular. On the contrary:

● The murderer was clearly unstable. His delusions of government mind-control were typical of paranoid schizophrenia. If we want to assess blame, let us blame the inadequate funding and inadequate awareness of mental illness.

● The would-be assassin became fixated on his target, Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, before Palin appeared on the national scene, before Obama became president, and before there was a health-care bill.

● He was registered as an independent and had not voted in the 2010 election. Does that sound like a right-wing activist?

● His blog revealed anti-war tirades. Does that sound like a conservative follower of Palin?

● His blog revealed anti-Christianity rants, including, “Crap on God! Crap on God! Crap on God! Go talk to a toilet seat for a hour.” Anyone who connects this strident atheist with Sarah Palin is either a fool or a liar − or both.
