The upcoming war film directed by Dan Bradley is based on the 1984 film of the same name, which starred Patrick Swayze as the leader of the "Wolverines."
The storyline is simple: A group of teenagers look to save their town from an invasion of foreign soldiers by taking refuge in the woods and going on the offensive. Actors Chris Hemsworth and Josh Peck will portray the brothers Jed and Matt Eckert, roles originally played by Patrick Swayze and Charlie Sheen. Unlike the 1984 film which pitted the teens against the Russians, the new band of "Wolverines" (the nickname the group calls themselves) will face of against Chinese invaders.
In June 2010, the theatrical release of the film was delayed due to MGMs financial difficulties. The delay was worsened by growing controversy in China after excerpts of the script were leaked, and caused the film to draw sharp criticism from one of the leading Chinese state-run newspapers; which ran headlines such as "U.S. reshoots Cold War movie to demonize China" and "American movie plants hostile seeds against China". Problems aside, thought, it appears audiences are now closer to seeing Red Dawn in theaters than planned. Once their current Chapter 11 restructuring is complete, MGM will set it's sights on the remake. The film is one of three already completed projects that will be released in 2011.
Featured in the picture above is the core Red Dawn cast, including Chris Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, Adrianne Palicki, Isabel Lucas, Edwin Hodge and Alyssa Diaz.
Updated it could be a bold movie.. film noir even..
I’m just surprised they didn’t make the ‘invaders’ members of the Tea Party.
Sorry, Ping to #39.
Now, I just need to figure out how to make primer/percussion caps... And I might not even have to run out of ammo. ;-)
The folks in One Second After also managed to repair primitive land line communications. As a reminder of basic military knowledge, think C3I. Find a way to do better C3I than the bad guys.
#21 might be therefore be “find a way to make comms/recon work”
That pic never gets old!
Probably the best ever movie about a fictional occupation was made in Britain in 1966 called, “It Happened Here” about what life in England under Nazi Occupation would have been like.
Always thought it would have been interesting to make a movie about a fictional Nazi occupation of the US.
How lame, the chinese, right, not the jihadists or illegals pouring in, ya, this is revelant. Definitely be skipping this one. The director had no guts at all, if he did we would be addressing real enemies.
Wolverines! I may have to relent against not supporting hollyweird and go see this movie.
There’s an Atlas Shrugged movie coming out?
CBs may come in handy.
The only wrong thing with the premise of this remake is the replacement of the Cuban-Russian invaders with Chinese. In reality, our problem is with Fedzilla.
Thanks.
And not to hijack this thread, but here is the Atlas Shrugged trailer.

Undoubtedly.
The ‘long range’ handhelds available now are a good idea anyways.
I know this is all hypothetical, but ...
If the bad guys are pros, CBs and similar are easily overheard and/or jammed.
But if we are instead in a ‘9 meals to anarchy’ model, then CBs are a godsend, as long as you have the right sort of rechargeable batteries.
Who’s the redhead? I like redheads...
I couldn't disagree more. The Muslims don't have ICBMs, submarine navies, millions of infantry, or a satellite communications network. The ChiComs do, and have the same level of world leadership entitlement mentality as the Muslims.
The problem with the ChiComs is that they are smart, patient, and not motivated by an insane god fantasy. They are cold, calculating, and capable.
The Muslims have a rulership fantasy. Thanks to the globalists, China has a rulership destiny.
She’s that sweet thing from Friday Night Lights!!!
Daddy Like!!!
Speaking of trailers, here is a link to a “fan made” trailer for the Red Dawn.
