"Red Dawn" Remake Preparing for 2011 Release
DailyBlam ^ | Jan. 3, 2011 | Pietro Filipponi

The upcoming war film directed by Dan Bradley is based on the 1984 film of the same name, which starred Patrick Swayze as the leader of the "Wolverines."

The storyline is simple: A group of teenagers look to save their town from an invasion of foreign soldiers by taking refuge in the woods and going on the offensive. Actors Chris Hemsworth and Josh Peck will portray the brothers Jed and Matt Eckert, roles originally played by Patrick Swayze and Charlie Sheen. Unlike the 1984 film which pitted the teens against the Russians, the new band of "Wolverines" (the nickname the group calls themselves) will face of against Chinese invaders.

In June 2010, the theatrical release of the film was delayed due to MGM’s financial difficulties. The delay was worsened by growing controversy in China after excerpts of the script were leaked, and caused the film to draw sharp criticism from one of the leading Chinese state-run newspapers; which ran headlines such as "U.S. reshoots Cold War movie to demonize China" and "American movie plants hostile seeds against China". Problems aside, thought, it appears audiences are now closer to seeing Red Dawn in theaters than planned. Once their current Chapter 11 restructuring is complete, MGM will set it's sights on the remake. The film is one of three already completed projects that will be released in 2011.

Featured in the picture above is the core Red Dawn cast, including Chris Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, Adrianne Palicki, Isabel Lucas, Edwin Hodge and Alyssa Diaz.

You were quicker to the draw than me. LOL. Honestly though, as much as I am interested in seeing this film, I don't care for the lack of originality in hollyweird that sparks the push for these remakes.

I was talking to my Dad about True Grit, and he wasn't too big on see a leftard like Bridges play a role the Duke originally played. Matt Damon as a Texas Ranger? Please. Dad said talk of remaking the Wizard of Oz was in the works, good grief.

20 Things The Paranoid Dad learned from the book “One Second After”

This is also usable information if a RED DAWN scenario ever happened.

You cannot totally prepare for every possible situation. There are too many variables: weather, where you are at the time it occurs, who you are with. You never know how those around you have prepared or how they will react – where will they be mentally, emotionally, and physically. Being prepared, at whatever level, just gives you better odds of survival.

1. Eventually you will have to kill somebody.

2. Eventually someone will find you no matter where you are. All you can do is pick the most strategic location possible.

3. Disease will become a part of life.

4. You’re going to run out of bullets, eventually.

5. If or when the government comes to help, they may not be very helpful, and you won’t be anywhere near their top priority.

6. Any gun is better than no gun as long as you have ammo.

7. Having an understanding of military battle tactics would be a good idea.

8. Children need to learn how to shoot and defend themselves early on.

9. Some medical training and knowledge would be beneficial, even if it’s just first aid.

10. Big cities will become kill zones.

11. Build a privy in your yard and use it for a week. See how bad it can get!

12. Buy an extra dose of medication whenever you can.

13. Evil people without any fear of authority or restraint will become more evil.

14. If you have more food than everyone else, stay on near-starvation rations so you don’t appear to be more healthy and become a target.

15. Be one of the first ‘looters’, but pay for what you can, however you can.
(Being a honest person by nature – I don’t like #15, but if the SHTF this may be a matter of life & death for you and your family)

16. Having to move from one safe location to another safe location, remember you’ll be in danger the entire way. Movement is dangerous.

17. White collar skills will be worthless. Blue collar skills will be more valuable.

18. People who rarely or never do any strenuous work will be in big trouble.

19. Survival will become a fulltime job.

20. 22LR ammo is future Gold. You can buy years worth now with very little money. A good 22LR rifle is very accurate, can bring down small animals not destroying the meat, and if needed can keep away unwanted animals and bad guys. And the sound does not carry far when you need to stay hidden, and homemade silencers can be built.

Figured everyone knows to keep their finger out of the trigger guard.

Well, all except a certain someone we know who shall remain unnamed. :-)

Wow. They’ve obviously corrected the “racism” in the first movie. Look at that “diverse” cast...

And no Patrick Swayze movie remake could possibly be as good or better without him. :p

(Is there a Swayze rule?)

Here is some excellent artwork from the up-coming epic that is causing the ChiComs to crap themselves (notice how the phrases sound like DNC talking points?):

What really sucks is that THIS version of ‘Red Dawn’ is set in Spokane, WA...and NOT ONE SCENE in the movie was shot in Spokane! Everything was done in Hollyweird or some town in Michigan!

For that reason alone (the besmirching of my home town), I will refuse to see this movie.

(Not to mention the fact that it looks like it’s gonna suck big green ones....)

Looks pretty authentic, right down to the stilted “Engrish” in the translation.

There is actually a game coming out for PCs in March called “Homefront” that is somewhat similar...it posits the North Koreans unifying Korea in 2012, followed by a total economic collapse and massive civil unrest in the United States. By 2027, the US is partially occupied by Greater Korea (including pretty much all of East Asia at that point). The player is a US soldier.

The interesting bit? The single-player campaign was scripted out by John Milius, he of the *original* Red Dawn.
