The Stupak Lesson

First off, I'd like to open with a joke. Bart Stupak is going to be teaching at Harvard.

Side-splitter.

Bart Stupak is pleased that he has retired from Congress and insists that he has done the right thing in voting for Obamacare. He made it clear during the fight between him, his constituents and the nation that he would not allow the healthcare bill to pass with federal funding of abortion. During March of this year, he was on television and radio daily assuring everyone in the nation that the final passage of "health care for all" would not contain the federal funding of abortion. His Stupak/Pitts amendment was designed to insert the Hyde amendment into the bill, but once the bill left the House, it was replaced in the Senate by the Senate's own version which did not include the Stupak/Pitts amendment. He then went to Obama, who had his own version of a bill (which was not acceptable to any of the members of the House and Senate,) to make sure that no federal dollars would be used to fund abortions in the last stages of "reconciliation." Reconciliation cannot be and was not used during the passage of Obamacare, in fact no bill was passed, hence the famous Pelosi quote, "We have to pass the bill to find out what's in it." Nobody knew what the bill said because nobody read it, because it was not an actual bill until after they voted for it. When Stupak waved an executive order from the most pro-abortion President this country has ever seen, and said it would act as his Stupak/Pitts amendment would, he sealed his fate and then retired in April.

He has complained that his life had been a living hell ever since he voted for Obamacare,

I am part of Michigan's First District. The main reason Stupak is gone is not because he retired, but because his constituency realized what he truly was, and rejected him.

He deserves a life of living hell for what he did.

I don’t think he was ever opposed to abortion, he did say he supported his local Planned Parenthood chapter

Me too and thank God for Dan Benishek. Can’t wait until he takes Stupak’s place.

I think he put up a fuss about abortion being in the health care bill because of the people in this district. But, it wasn’t meaningful it was all show. Me and my hubby went to see him at Tech...what a waste of time and a bunch of hot air. He was going to do what he darn well pleased all along. I think many in congress, especially on the dems side are the same.

He has complained that his life had been a living hell ever since he voted for Obamacare,

It is nothing compared to the hell that awaits him - Fat Teddy Kennedy s saving him a seat.

Stupak's little charade before the healthscare voting fooled no one, but he thought it would give him cover to vote for 0bama's abortions and death panels. Even the sheeple were not fooled.

Yes, and interestingly, too many people do not associate planned parenthood with abortion, I’ve had many discussions with those who will not see the truth. Stupak got a pass because he fit all the criteria, it wasn’t until we pulled back the topmost layer to see what was hidden beneath.

I'm not so sure he wouldn't have been reelected had he run. Look what happened downstate, they continued voting in a very poor choice in John Dingel. I think we'll never know if the first district would have voted in Stupak rather than Benishek.

Same here, the old man and I went to Tawas and watched him squirm amongst one third of his democrats who did not like his abortion take, and two thirds of angry conservatives who were realizing what he was. We walked out knowing that Obamacare would be passed, and that Stupak would vote for it. I taped the whole thing and transcribed it. Stupak's Town Hall In Tawas Michigan

Actually I'd trade Stupak for Obamacare going down in flames.

I've always thought the man was a fraud, but Obamacare is worse than mere fraud.

I do think we'll like Benishek, it seems he'll make a good rep. Hopefully he'll be a good consolation prize.

Ah, sometimes I'm a little slow...lol Now I know who you are. Good to know you too :)

I knew stupak was going to cave too. I had some hopes he wouldn't. But, in my gut I knew. You know what my first thought was after he signed the bill? Judas and the 30 pieces of silver.

I didn’t read all the text on your link, good job by the way. But, it sounds just like the same spheel we got. blah blah blah. I think I almost rolled my eyes right out of my head. Seemed to me that most of the people at the Tech town hall meeting were angry too. Maybe they weren’t all but, it was packed and there was a lot of angry sounds.

yes, and the point is, that the Democrat Party is expected to ignore the people now, from here on out. If the Republican party ignores the social issues, which is what I hear consultants and strategists and so on say, and think that it was only the spending that ticked off America, the party is over, and who knows what may happen.

Gotta give my kudos to radio personality Don Imus for his assessment of Bart Stupak after seeing an interview of Stupak on a cable news channel:

"He sure didn't do that interview on his way home from a Mensa picnic."
