House Dem: ‘Not One Comma’ In Tax Bill Likely To Change
IBD's Capital Hill ^ | 12/15/2010 | Sean Higgins

Rep. Brad Sherman, D-Calif., isn’t a lawyer like most of his colleagues. He’s a certified public accountant, which means he can add really well. And his back-of-the-envelope math is that House Democrats opposed to the White House-Republican tax-cut deal will lose.

“My guess is that the House will not change a single comma in this bill, and this bill is headed to the president’s desk in a week,” Sherman told Capital Hill.

“My guess is that the House will not change a single comma in this bill, and this bill is headed to the president’s desk in a week,” Sherman told Capital Hill.

So they are agreeing that this bill of revenue originated in the Senate. That makes it easy to have declared unconstitutional.

Yep. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
I really expect the same thing next year.
More pork
More spending
More graft and corruption.
Same Sh**, just different faces.

Probably true. They’ll grandstand with some meaningless amendments that won’t pass.

Omnibus and other places are where the battles will be, I’m guessing.

I expected to be disappointed in the Republicans leadership, but not this quickly. They should have said to the lame ducks that they got thrown out, and that the Republicans would not stand by and let them act like they were still in charge. Nothing should have been done this month. Period. If it is important, it will be done better under the new Congress.

The GOP position should have been to shut down the Senate entirely. If the Dems wanted to pass something, it needed to be something that the new Congress will agree with. Otherwise, we will wait. And as for extending the tax rates, it would be ok to give something for that, but not too much. We both want it to be extended, us because it is good for the country, them because they know if they don't it will be even worse in 2012. There is something to be said for doing it before January 1, but the fact is, we can probably get it passed after January 1. There could well be the votes to override a veto, and there might not even be a veto. So making it a porkulus bill is stupid.

The House dems have been promised massive amounts of pork in the Omnibus bill, over 200 billion of it. It is grandson of stimulus.
