It’s the same reason they wanted Reagan to win the nomination in 1980.(He of the polarizing, dangerous, too far right, B Movie actor fame)

They think she will be easy to beat. But, like Reagan, she won’t.

The establishment will never allow that a real conservative has what it takes to win. Like Reagan and Quayle, and now Sarah, all conservatives are just too ‘dumb’.

Just keep watching. Sarah is going to astound the pundits in a runaway landslide...there is something very special brewing.

Of course the establishment wants Romney, and they usually get who they want by splitting our votes in the primaries among several conservative candidates.

This time around, I believe a vote for anyone other than Sarah Palin will be a defacto vote for Romney.

I don’t know what to make of Carter’s comments either, because he’s usually so nasty, but I think he realizes she’s a force to be reckoned with and that she’s powerful and charming. He was soundly defeated by another powerful force who was also charming.

If Sarah runs, those dems who think she is the most beatable will cross over to vote for her in the open primaries. My hunch is though, they will cross over to vote for huck or mitt because no matter how much they blather and drivel, they really are afraid of her, it shows in their obsessive hatred of all things Palin.

We need to see different angles on this issue. While (many, but not all) conservatives consider Sarah Palin their #1 choice to be Republican nominee, many liberals (not all of them) also have her as their #1 choice for the Republican nominee. The reasons, however, cannot be much different. The conservatives believe she’s the only that can beat 0bama, the liberals believe she’s the one that 0bama can defeat easily. So, not surprisingly, these two wings of the respective party endorse Palin heavily. The same thing happened with Reagan, where conservative got their wish. And with Sharron Angle, where the liberals got their wish.

Dear Jimmy:

You are unique among ex-presidents in that, while feigning some twisted sort of “southern humility” in the short shadow of your office you have repeatedly pranced, preened, and loud-mouthed your way to harming world opinion of the U.S., her closest allies, and the very office you quickly vacated.

Please just stand in a corner somewhere and rub your Nobel Prize. And no, you may not shine Sarah Palin’s pumps, no matter how much ‘lust’ is in your heart. Go kill a rabbit or a cat or something and pretend you’re a real Georgian.

And step away from the claw-hammer for goodness’ sakes: I’ve been watching you try to drive a roofing nail for 20 years and it still makes me cringe. Really. You could hurt someone.

All the same, thanks for your service to our country, and may you live long and prosper. Just - really - nobody cares what you think about Israel and stuff.

Sincerely,

Golux

“And Jimmy Carter (along with the MSM) did a GREAT job of disguising his left wing sympathies. Back then the MSM had a lot of control on information - no conservative talk radio and the internet.”

Good point. Carter recently said that Fox and MSNBC are extremist networks and CNN struggles in the ratings because they’re too fair-minded.

I think he wishes we still had the media of his presidency; ie. the days of the Fairness Doctrine when there was no real talk radio and the only source for TV news was the Tom Brokaw crowd on NBC, CBS, and ABC.

The only reason I knew he was a liberal was I went to an investment seminar by the late great Lou Rukeyser (RIP) who went out of his way to trash Carter.

They think she will be easy to beat. But, like Reagan, she won’t.

Reagan got elected because he was Reagan not because he was conservative

I think [Carter] wishes we still had the media of his presidency; ie. the days of the Fairness Doctrine when there was no real talk radio and the only source for TV news was the Tom Brokaw crowd on NBC, CBS, and ABC.

During the Carter regime, the NBC anchor was John Chancellor. Brokaw didn't take that position until 1982. CBS still had Walter Cronkite during the Jimmy Carter era and ABC featured a revolving door of anchors including Peter Jennings, Frank Reynold, Max Robinsion, Harry Reasoner, Barbara Walters and Howard K. Smith.

That detail aside, your point is on target. The mass media has long been comprised of leftists and the hate America crowd or as Spiro Agnew rightly described them: "nattering nabobs of negativism".

He’s right about her capability to get the nomination but where does he get the idea that a majority of Republicans do not think she is qualified to be President?

Scratching my head listening to the old coot’s circular logic.

Carter goes on to reinforce his status as chief dip$hit moron of all past presidents.
