Charlie Cook: “Obama has to Pray every Night for Republicans to Nominate Sarah Palin” – Video

Here is video of renowned political prognosticator Charlie Cook reacting to President Obama’s recent arrogant assertion that, “I don’t think about Sarah Palin.” Cook told MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell that Obama “has to pray every night for Republicans to nominate Sarah Palin,” because she is a “no fly zone” for Independent voters according to him. Obama was dismissive of Palin after being asked if he thought he could beat her in a potential 2012 matchup for President. Cook cited Palin’s poor showing in polls among Independent voters as the reason why Obama has to be hoping for a Palin nomination in 2012.

Obama had better be careful what he wishes for.

If my tone came across as too strident then I apologize.

Charlie Cook has to pray every night that if he makes it seem like Obama wants to run against Palin, then her support will diminish.

To all the Palin bashers and naysayers: if she runs her campaign is going to out fox the WH, the nedia and you...just you watch.

She’s in a perfect postion to continue rising. Her stature has risen by leaps and bounds since she resigned. She had a huge effect in the mid terms but you’re too damn stupid to see it. So I guess you’re in for another shock in 2012.

Must suck to constantly end up shocked by her every victory and be on the wrong side of history. Your most glaring weaknesses: Stupidity and smugness.

Good observations, Huck. We all are guilty of “hearing what we want to hear” at times, and you’re right about it being in part a “cult of personality. With regard to “doesn’t connect” - well that was me and Jimmy Carter. As hard as I tried to like the guy (because I thought he had a tough job and I wanted the country to succeed as this was early in my own career/life) - I found myself being put-off thirty seconds after he opened his mouth. Not the kind of visceral hatred we see from the Left, but just, as your MIL probably feels with Palin, a sense that I just can’t related to this person.

Good discussion. As much as I personally like Palin (and I’m not predicting ANYthing...) - we do have to have candidates that can win elections, regardless of how we personally feel.

Perhaps, but at least she’s fighting back. I don’t recall Dan Quayle being given the opportunity to defend himself on the “potatoe” incident. Of course, that was before the internet. When the loons said “Bush lied, people died”, I don’t recall anyone getting out there and defending him.

Since Palin seems to be the only one fighting back and actually saying something, I think that has to be factored into the equation.

So if things are slogging along in 2012, they'll be ready to reject Obama. But Palin will make it harder for them. They will want to stay home. At least my mom-in-law will.

No disrespect intended towards your mother-in-law or people who think like she does, but anyone who knows the clear and present danger Obama is for this Republic and yet knowingly refuses to vote for Sarah Palin (if she runs)are prime examples of what is wrong with this country.

None of her records are sealed and I'm quite sure she has an American birth certificate lying about the house somewhere. She hasn't taken over the health industry, in fact she is opposed to Obamacare. She wants to control the borders and is a supported of Arizona's initiative to do that.

Anyone who by their inaction would support the Kenyan in chief rather than support a true American probably needs to stay home, IMHO

Assuming she runs, I support Sarah unless and until she does something to betray my trust. She has earned it.

Despite all the negative doom and gloom that Huck and others ply on this website I have asked again and again who would be a stronger all-around conservative candidate (not necessarily the "most" conservative candidate) and all I hear are the sound of crickets. Even on this very thread.

I wonder why that is... /s

OK, then just who will capture your mom-in-law’s vote? We are running out of time here, and I don’t see anyone on the horizon other than the tiresome retreads Romney and Huckabee.

Maybe I’m missing something. As you know, Ronald Reagan had been honing his craft for years, and by the time 1980 rolled around he was beyond prepared for the presidency.

Who do we have now??

I don’t disagree with you that she’s fighting back. The problem is the MSM is not going to cover it. We can sit on FR all day and night and defend Palin on this. The problem for Palin is that independent voters don’t read FR or Redstate.com or Michelle Malkin. The independents get their news from Saturday Night Live and Jon Stewart, neither of whom are going to defend her because there are no laughs there.

The MSM convinced voters that Dan Quayle was an idiot. The accusation stuck. They convinced voters that Newt Gingrich was evil. The accusation stuck. Sarah Palin has been defined. It’s over before it’s begun.

It seems a very significant number of people were fooled by Tina Fey.

Most sincere Palin critics are really criticizing a caricature of Palin portrayed by Tina Fey on Saturday Night Live.

This is the segment of the population that forms their worldview from television and popular culture, while letting reality pass by unnoticed. They never got to know Palin—it’s Tina Fey they oppose, not Palin.

Palin is advancing the front line in this war. I don’t see anyone else up there.

The only alternative to fighting is to accept defeat.

I wonder the same thing. All I see are the same tired RINO's being put forth as viable candidates by some...and being told that the one-who-would-be-king who is brick by brick destroying this country could only defeat Palin.

If the left wasn't so afraid of her, why are they spending so much time on her?

Sarah has the potential to cause a populist wave. Everybody knows it. But there's no guarantee, because if she makes a big mistake she could tank big time. Her enemies are going to continue trying to force a big mistake.

We need to have courage and faith to support her as she takes the fight to them just as she has this weekend with her defense against Barbara Bush's nasty jab and her brilliant 57 State Thanksgiving facebook message. I love a good, honest warrior. And she's on our side.

GO SARAH!

"If the left wasn't so afraid of her, why are they spending so much time on her?"

That argument is old. Here's how it works. If the candidate you support gets lots of negative media coverage the the typical response is, "If the left wasn't so afraid of them, why are they spending so much time on them?" If the candidate you support doesn't get any or very little support the response is, "The left is afraid of them and won't give them news time". If a candidate you DON'T support gets lots of airtime then the response is, "The media is trying to pick our candidate for us".

The pat answers are getting old.

Does the Community-Organizer-in-Chief pray five times a day toward the rock in Mecca, or just toward the nearest mirror? In any case, it will be an interesting year if she earns the nomination based on a solid debate performance against the RINO wing of the party, which is how I’d like to see it happen.

I think its the REAL answers we're looking for. That's why the questions are still being asked.

“My mother-in-law is my bellweather independent voter. She can’t stand Obama, but doesn’t like Palin at all. I asked her what she will do if it’s Obama v Palin in 2012 and she said she’d stay home.”

The thing about anecdotal evidence is we all have it and we look to our own as a bellwether of sorts - so we just cancel each other out.

I also have a mother-in-law, and a father-in-law. They’re in their 80’s and never voted for a Republican, ever, until 2008 - and again in 2010. They are now to the point where they are willing to vote for any Republican who runs against OBAMA - including Sarah.

That is idiotic. Every person misspeaks from time to time in the course of a live discussion. Any freeper bringing up this north Korea ‘gaffe’ as a logical argument should be immediately banned by Jim Robinson. In the course of a discussion she misstated north vs south. I dare you to find a single elected official who hasn’t done the same at some point. Live television is filled with officials, commentators, and candidates doing the same every hour of the day.
