Charlie Cook: “Obama has to Pray every Night for Republicans to Nominate Sarah Palin” – Video
Freedom's Lighthouse ^ | November 26, 2010 | Brian

Here is video of renowned political prognosticator Charlie Cook reacting to President Obama’s recent arrogant assertion that, “I don’t think about Sarah Palin.” Cook told MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell that Obama “has to pray every night for Republicans to nominate Sarah Palin,” because she is a “no fly zone” for Independent voters according to him. Obama was dismissive of Palin after being asked if he thought he could beat her in a potential 2012 matchup for President. Cook cited Palin’s poor showing in polls among Independent voters as the reason why Obama has to be hoping for a Palin nomination in 2012.

Obama had better be careful what he wishes for.

I thought most of the independents were too busy watching “Dancing With the Stars” to pay much attention to politics.

You can be SURE 0bama will go with Clinton’s re-election strategy. Make sure there is a 3rd party candidate to split up the opposition. That way, 0bama can win with only 35-40% of the vote.

A little scary to even think about. Anyone who would fall into the trap and support a 3rd party candidate in that election will deserve whatever comes to them!

As you might expect with independent voters, it's her, not her positions. I would boil it down to a basic lack of trust and a lack of rapport. She just doesn't connect with her.

For example, she watched Palin's Alaska tv show and HATED it. Just thought it was boring and for whatever reason found Palin insufferable.

I agree with you. I think Palin is the only person Obama could beat.

Thanks - that was my question also. We always hear the “she can’t win” but seldom any reason(s) why not.

I’m surprised a bit that you’d expect Independents to put more weight on the person than on their positions. I guess I consider myself an Independent but only because I vote for the positions that reflect my views, not the person.

“Doesn’t connect” - I understand. The issue will be how many folks out there are like this, vs those who do.

Obama may be gone sooner, therefore we won’t have to worry about battling him for re-election. The whole dem party may be exiled for this fraud they have installed in the White House.

One big reason for this is that she hasn't announced yet and therefore hasn't even started campaigning. She has not begun to fight. You have nothing to judge her on and 0bama already has both parties turning against him.

You have nothing but RINO progressive talking points to spew and no strategic points to make. You are free to believe them but your argument is built on slippery sand.

It's the only way I can explain how someone can vote for Reagan twice, then Clinton twice, then Bush, then Obama. One big piece of it is personality--they measure up their impression of the person. Do they trust the person. Do they think he is smart, capable, etc. The other piece has to be just the mood in the moment. How are things going in the country.

So if things are slogging along in 2012, they'll be ready to reject Obama. But Palin will make it harder for them. They will want to stay home. At least my mom-in-law will.

“Doesn’t connect” - I understand. The issue will be how many folks out there are like this, vs those who do.

I think it's probably already set in stone with Palin. She doesn't connect with these types. I see the president as a sales job among other things, and the ability to establish rapport is a key facet of that sales job. I think she probably fails to establish rapport with independents.

Reagan was, among other things, the king of rapport, imo. Part of his "great communicating" was this trait. His genial nature, his jokes, his ability with the camera, enabled him to win you over based on subjective reaction. Roger Ailes has a book called "You Are The Message." Great read on this subject. I would LOVE to hear him talk freely about his impressions of Palin, from the perspective of a communications coach.

A Thanksgiving Message to All 57 States
.by Sarah Palin on Thursday, November 25, 2010 at 5:46pm.My fellow Americans in all 57 states, the time has changed for come. With our country founded more than 20 centuries ago, we have much to celebrate – from the FBI’s 100 days to the reforms that bring greater inefficiencies to our health care system. We know that countries like Europe are willing to stand with us in our fight to halt the rise of privacy, and Israel is a strong friend of Israel’s. And let’s face it, everybody knows that it makes no sense that you send a kid to the emergency room for a treatable illness like asthma and they end up taking up a hospital bed. It costs, when, if you, they just gave, you gave them treatment early, and they got some treatment, and ah, a breathalyzer, or an inhalator. I mean, not a breathalyzer, ah, I don’t know what the term is in Austrian for that…

Of course, the paragraph above is based on a series of misstatements and verbal gaffes made by Barack Obama (I didn’t have enough time to do one for Joe Biden). YouTube links are provided just in case you doubt the accuracy of these all too human slips-of-the-tongue. If you can’t remember hearing about them, that’s because for the most part the media didn’t consider them newsworthy. I have no complaint about that. Everybody makes the occasional verbal gaffe – even news anchors.

Obviously, I would have been even more impressed if the media showed some consistency on this issue. Unfortunately, it seems they couldn’t resist the temptation to turn a simple one word slip-of-the-tongue of mine into a major political headline. The one word slip occurred yesterday during one of my seven back-to-back interviews wherein I was privileged to speak to the American public about the important, world-changing issues before us.

If the media had bothered to actually listen to all of my remarks on Glenn Beck’s radio show, they would have noticed that I refer to South Korea as our ally throughout, that I corrected myself seconds after my slip-of-the-tongue, and that I made it abundantly clear that pressure should be put on China to restrict energy exports to the North Korean regime. The media could even have done due diligence and checked my previous statements on the subject, which have always been consistent, and in fact even ahead of the curve. But why let the facts get in the way of a good story? (And for that matter, why not just make up stories out of thin air – like the totally false hard news story which has run for three days now reporting that I lobbied the producers of “Dancing with the Stars” to cast a former Senate candidate on their show. That lie is further clear proof that the media completely makes things up without doing even rudimentary fact-checking.)

“Hope springs eternal” as the poet says. Let’s hope that perhaps, just maybe, they might get it right next time. When we the people are effective in holding America’s free press accountable for responsible and truthful reporting, then we shall all have even more to be thankful for!

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

- Sarah Palin

As Rush says, the left will always tell us who they fear.

So they are pushing Romney and Huckabee as the ideal GOP candidates, but trying to destroy Palin at every turn. So who is that they really fear?

Also, the November election showed that independents are right leaning more than they are left leaning. IF it’s between Obama and a true conservative like Palin - who may too right for some - I place my money on Palin.

The left is truly scared of the fact that Obama and Palin may have to duke it out. Go Sarah, get further inside their heads.

I guess Mr. Cook hasn’t seen these numbers. Oh by the way Gallup had similar numbers as well.

I guess they never saw these numbers from Rasmussen.
Whose views are closer to your own? Palin/Obama

Overall: 52/40

Male: 55/37
Female: 48/43
White: 58/35
Black: 5/87
GOP: 84/9
DEM: 14/81
INDY: 59/27
Conservative: 80/12
Moderate: 28/61
Liberal: 14/85

Or these:

“.....76% of Republicans and 52% of unaffiliated voters now hold a favorable opinion of Palin.”

“...Unaffiliated voters by a 41% to 36% margin see Palin as good for the GOP.”

What I would like to knows is: What is considered exceptable level of indie support.?

Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn’t the conventional wisdom during the early part of the 2008 Primaries that of Obama was a “no fly zone” for independents as well? Wasn’t it also that Ronald Reagan was also a “no fly zone” in the same respect?

This is nothing more than the Ruling Class calling upon their willing accomplices in the MSM to choose our candidates again.

That can only work if the Republican party puts up a RINO like McCain or Romney.

Most conservatives would take a decent conservative over Obama but if the RNC put forth an Obama(R), yes a 3rd party could be a spoiler.
