As you might expect with independent voters, it's her, not her positions. I would boil it down to a basic lack of trust and a lack of rapport. She just doesn't connect with her.

For example, she watched Palin's Alaska tv show and HATED it. Just thought it was boring and for whatever reason found Palin insufferable.

Thanks - that was my question also. We always hear the “she can’t win” but seldom any reason(s) why not.

I’m surprised a bit that you’d expect Independents to put more weight on the person than on their positions. I guess I consider myself an Independent but only because I vote for the positions that reflect my views, not the person.

“Doesn’t connect” - I understand. The issue will be how many folks out there are like this, vs those who do.

Huck, thanks for the answer. Looks like it generated a lot of discussion.

Ask her, if the race in 2012 is between Palin and Obama, who would she vote for?

Then we know if there is hope or not. ;)
