Caruba's Crystal Ball: The 2012 GOP Presidential Nominee
Warning Signs ^ | November 9, 2010 | By Alan Caruba

Posted on 11/09/2010 3:12:32 AM PST by Ronbo1948

If the Republican Party nominates a RINO (Republican in Name Only) like John McCain in 2012 it will lose and, assuming the Democratic Party clings to its suicide pact with Barack Hussein Obama, he will win.

It is doubtful that Obama will not be re-nominated for the 2012 race. As the Wall Street Journal’s Kimberley A. Strassel pointed out, “History doesn’t inspire optimism. Over the past 100 years, every time a president two years into his first term lost Congress, he went on to be re-elected: Truman in ’48, Eisenhower in ’56, Clinton in ’96.”

What we do know is that independent voters will decide whoever will be elected in 2012. There were no Tea Parties in those earlier elections and a lot depends on what the GOP does over the course of the next two years. While they control the House, they have limited options beyond a declared intention to repeal Obamacare, cut government spending, etc. Twenty-three very nervous Democrat Senators up for election in 2012 may prove cooperative. Obama will not.

I like Chris Christie but would need to know more about him. If he is the deficit hawk he appears to be, he has my vote as that is the only issue that matters to me at this point.

Mike Pence and Paul Ryan would be a very good team.

Personally, I favor ME for president in 2012!

I promise to DEPORT to France the Democommie Party, all variety of socialists and all Muslims.

Furthermore, I promise to fire most federal bureaucrats and terminate the existence of all Departments, except those authorized by the U.S. Constitution.

Then I’ll order the bombing of Iran with nukes.

Ditto Pakistan...

Ditto Afghanistan....

Ditto Iraq...

On Day Two of my presidency, I’ll...you get the picture!

I think this guy lives in a dream world. Barack Obama will be lucky to escape forced resignation or impeachment next year after Darryl Issa gets through with his investigations. If Barry does manage to get re-nominated he has zero chance to win in 2012. If the GOP runs a corpse they will win.

Bobby Jindal is not eligible to be President as he is not a natural born citizen. His mother was only in this country 5 mos when he was born. I believe Marco Rubio has the same problem. I don’t think his parents were naturalized citizens when he was born.

When its all said and done I think more than likely the GOP nominee will be someone like Tim Pawlenty. The country is ready for someone who is steady as she goes. I think Flashy has worn off. My personal choices are Jim DeMint and Mike Pence at this point but DeMint will likely not run.

On Day Two of my presidency

Can I be your SECDEF?

If yes, here is some advice, after we simultaneously nuke iran and pakistan, we stop and give the people of Afghanistan and Iraq one week to turn over the name of every Taliban person or consort along with their location.

If we aren't satisfied with the intel, then we nuke'em, besides, it will take at least a week to get our troops out.

I know you will think I'm just an old softie, but one day two, we'll park 4 nuke subs off the coast of China and tell them we are canceling all of our debt, if they disagree, nuke'em.

Nuke North Korea just because it's Tuesday.

Move 30,000 US troops to the southern border, with 50 cals with overlapping fire.

Post do not enter signs in english and spanish, kill anyone that crosses the border.

It will take less deaths than occurred in the mexican border towns this past weekend before the wetbacks will become the turnbacks.

We’d make a TEAM AMERICA that’s for sure!

And the good thing about it is that we are only one little REVOLUTION away from putting righteous dudes like us in charge of the government.

YES, WE CAN!

I disagree with you in regards to Alan.

Alan is my friend, intelligent, a gifted writer and stalwart conservative who has written several books on politics.

I think his reasoning is valid, although I disagree with his choice of candidate, which I think has to do with backing his home state governor.

However, I agree with you that the Tea Party majority will back a candidate at some point, and whoever that man or woman is they will get my backing without reservation.

I just hope the RNC Establishment goes along with choice, because if they don’t, the GOP follows the Whigs into the pages of history.

I agree with you about obama... what a putrid excuse for a man. I do believe that the debates will settle who will be our nominee. May the best man or woman for the job prevail. No more machine politics or there will be a third party that will destroy the republicans.

Have you heard about the old guard saying that they are going to take up business where they left off in 2006? Some of the republican leadership must be defeated in two years. if they do not listen... they need to be destroyed if they take up “business as usual”.

Thanks for letting me know. I can admit when I am wrong so apologies to the author. He is wrong however... but this morning brings more bad news. The republican leadership is still entrenched in 2006... business as usual... taking up where they left off... looks like we may have to destroy the republican party to save it. They have ONE CHANCE left... and they are trying as hard as they can to blow that chance.

Actually this conversation may be moot because it would appear economic collapse will happen before 2012.

In fact, it could happen any day now, since the Fed is buying its own debt.

What then?

If history is a guide there will be a revolution.

For all time.. they need to dump the concept of nominating someone because it is “their turn”.
