They gathered in Our Lady of Salvation Catholic Church for an evening Mass. They are members of an increasingly besieged and forgotten minority in Iraq, Catholic Christians. Their herosm and love for the Lord has inspired them to continue to practice the ancient faith in the midst of what is a steadily deteriorating situation for them in this land they have called home for centuries.
Our Lady of Salvation Church is no stranger to violence. Churches have been bombed before in Iraq, including Our Lady of Salvation. The Christian faithful have had to contend with an increasingly hostile culture. However, never before have they experienced the horror of what happened this past Sunday when terrorists invaded a Church as the Holy Mass was set to begin, killed the priest and held the worshippers hostage for four hours. It ended with at least 52 dead, others injued, and our brothers and sisters in Iraq devastated.
Reports confirm that 120 of the faithful had gathered to hear the Gospel proclaimed, participate in the Liturgy, and receive the Holy Eucharist. There were women, men and children. One eyewitness who had been inside the Church when the terrorists entered the sanctuary told European news sources that the armed terrorists "came into the prayer hall and immediately killed the priest". Out of fear the witness would not identify himself. However, he also attested to the brutality of the terrorists. He indicated that they beat the worshippers and then herded them into an inner hall...

It would seem to me that some form of censure would be in order for any official of the church that didn’t conform to church policy on matters such as this.
A statement like this will be fodder to many who dislike Israel, and will do absolutely nothing to achieve some form of peace between Catholicism and Islam, whether or not that was part of the reasoning behind it.

I am sorry to hear of this incident. It does not speak well of Islam. What’s more, the lack of universal condemnation by Islamic leaders speaks volumes.
Islam’s credibility has been destroyed by it’s own leadership and practitioners.
Blaming Westerners for besmirching Islam, is missing the mark by a mile. No amount of criticism by Westerners could do more damage to Islam than it’s adherents have done to it in recent times.

Bush, and not he who started the hugely unpopular war, Obama said that 3,300 American troops have died since the war started and 30,000 others were wounded. Obama’s plan calls for 50,000 troops to stay in Iraq to provide support:

First, I disagree with he above excerpt in the statement the George W. Bush started the war. Bush fought the war. It was started long before G.W. Bush and was only in ceasefire, which was violated thousands of time by Saddam and, of course, we know now they did have WMD’s too.

Islam demands the world to Islamic, for there to be their so-called peace.
Obama turned a blind eye to the most important fact about the Iraq region and people. That in-your-face undeniable and patently obvious fact - Jihad! It doesn't simply go away because he pretends not to know its goal.
Of course, Obama is not alone in this evil. The atheistic secularists pretend not to see the evil perpetrated by Obama and the Islamists, because the current outcomes of their goals are aligned. The reduction of influence of Christians and Jews in the world. Soon, though, their goals will be at odds, too.

There is absolutely no justification for what these “freedom fighters” (Michael Moron’s term for such combatants) did and there is absolutely no justification for the media (which is Saudi funded) to keep quiet over such “acts of terrorism that we can absorb”. The system worked. Yee haaaa.

The fact is, this was not just an attack on the Catholic Church, it was ANOTHER attack on western Civilization and every non-Muslim in the world.
