Apparently so, via Kyle Hopkins at the Anchorage Daily News:
I'm sitting at the Division of Elections office here in Midtown, where more than a dozen people have filed this afternoon to run as write-in candidates for U.S. Senate.
KFQD 750 AM radio host Dan Fagan, a backer of Republican nominee Joe Miller, has been urging voters to sign up in an act of "civil disobedience" -- defying what he calls the courts' illegal decision to allow a list of write-in candidates at polling places.
The ruling is expected to aid Sen. Lisa Murkowski's write-in bid. The idea of the mass registration is to create a long list of potential write-in choices and make it harder for voters to find Murkowski's name.
The deadline for registering as a write-in candidate is the close of business today.
"I'm signing up to become a senator," a man in a hoodie said into his cell phone. An Anchorage woman who said she was upset with the court ruling wheeled in her oxygen tank, asking if she could sign up to run for both federal and state office.
More soon.
UPDATE: Make that about two dozen people.
I'm not sure about the Dan Fagan connection. I thought this was Dan Riehl's idea. But as Reagan once said, there's no limit to what can be accomplished if you don't care who gets the credit. If there are any more readers in Alaska, get down to the Division of Elections and join the party.
Update: Hopkins has updated his article to include the following information:
The Anchorage office received 56 Senate write-in applications -- in person or by fax -- in just 45 minutes, said election clerk Raymond McAndrews at 5 p.m.
Question for our Alaska readers: Are there Division of Elections offices other than the one in Anchorage? If so, how many more write-in applications have been received on top of the 56 in Anchorage?
No joke Tongass, I haven't heard a single person say they would not vote for Joe over everything being reported by the media. No free fall from our perspective and even my Indian buddies agreed it was same old political games going on.
I've told you, I really believe the feds should give the Indians back all the blm lands they stole off them in 40's. But ya know, the country is going broke and sooner or later the money tree is going to crash to the ground. I don't want to see USA end up like Russia in the early 90's; be a bad way to go.
Also, I know people (who I respect)in tok who had dealings with Joe Miller and they said he was a straight up guy; very honorable. Here's one for ya, true story. We have a guy here in Eagle, has a gas station. This one guy & wife owed the gas station bunch of money and was getting ready to move out. not pay his bill. Even all the Indians pay their bills to this White gas station owner because he's good guy; treats them right. So they went to court in Tok over the money and the guy and his wife who owed the money lied up and down. My friend figured he was just getting screwed again and never get the money, but his wife said that she had the feeling that the magistrate was reading through all the bull and would make the couple pay up. Sure enough he did and that judge was Joe Miller; true story.
So Tongass, if you ever get up Eagle look us up, stay over; I'll introduce ya to all the Indians. You probably know Issac Juneabee, one of the best chiefs I've seen up here. tried stopping the alcohol too, even when the entire village shunned him for doing so; very respectable guy. Issac did good things for Eagle and had the class to get things accomplished in Juneau. Anyway, you wait till tuesday and you'll see that I'm right about this election. Maybe we should bet a 30-30 on this Miller/Murkowski deal.
I don't care about credit either, but it was my idea weeks ago--sort of. I looked in the online yellow pages and said that Lisa Murkosky of Fairbanks ought to run as a write in candidate. I hope she still does.
Ohhhhh Yeahhhh A L A S K A !!!!
Way to go!
Sarah Palin a no show? A quick search reveals that she was there.
Good to hear from you. I agree with you that Joe has the right message I just think he is the wrong messenger. You may have notice that all week long Palin was pulling together a rally for Joe. About 200 folks came but Palin was a no show. Joe's negatives are getting too high and would start to make her look negative too, so she has thrown ole Joe under the bus. I just wish the Tea Party had picked a more credible candidate. If I ever make to your neck of the river dinner is on me. tk
Now I KNOW YOU”RE TROLL!
I know for a Fact Palin was at the rally!
Please go admire your photos of Lisa whatsherface. You are lying and she did show. I notice your name has the word “kid” in it. I rest my case! You are a child, if not in age, at least in mind.
I was wrong, I understand that after over half the folks left Palin did show up. Her timing does not make for a strong endorsement.
Oh man you know what would really be HIGHlarious? If a nobody Democrat won by write in Candidate and he/she then caucused with the Republicans and everyday he/she would stand on the Senate floor and propose Amendments that cut the budget each and every year by 5%!
Indeed. We need to check the phone book for a Lisa Murkowsky, Leesa Marcowski, and Liza Merkowski, and politely ask them all to file as write-in U.S. Senate candidates.
JOE MILLER IS A GRADUATE OF WEST POINT AND AN HONORABLE MAN. He's a decorated combat veteran. He's also former judge and a father of eight. How dare you contend that he wasn't vetted, and by the "Tea Party" no less.
Pray tell, which Tea Party? You see, there is no "Tea Party", per se, Mister Lisa Murkowski Troll.
Joe Miller ran and won as a REPUBLICAN.
Your candidate lost. Miller beat her fair and square, but she's a middle-age, spoiled, power-hungry brat, who just couldn't endure the loss, so she set out to ruin the winner's chances. She's nothing but evil, and you are a Murkowski troll.
She's not about to throw Joe Miller "under the bus" as you've claimed.

There you go again with Murkowski spin!!!
You have NO idea what caused her to be late, but you've already stated that "the timing does not make for a strong endorsement."
If she was late, it was probably because we’re getting our first snow of the season tonight and every year idiots have to relearn how to drive in snow. Always avoid the Glenn hwy the first few snowfalls.
Never mind that Joe Miller wants to free AK from the federal grip, so that AK can tap and benefit from its own natural resources.
Ah, I see and she was at home in Wasilla this morning and the rally for Joe Miller was in Anchorage. Again, that’s also, “if” she was late and also, how late.
