The WMD fiasco was the beginning of the end of Bush's credibility with the public at large("Bush lied, people died"). His failure to see the danger in this, and his failure to counter it with the truth, is unforgivable. Did he completely forget thew lesson of LBJ's "credibility gap?" It crippled the rest of his administration and set the stage for obama.

As we have always known, they had two months to hide the chemical weapons and we continue to find them.

Then why on earth didn’t the Bush administration report what was being found in Iraq? It makes now sense that, after presenting pre-war evidence of WMDs as a major justification for the invasion of Iraq that they’d not report what was found?
This is really bizarre. There was no conceivable reason to keep any of these finds secret.

Awesome post. A brave man and a patriot no doubt.
I like the link but it didn't work on me. I just used to be a BSer. Bush skeptic - ur - person. That was during the primary and early months in office. I didn't like him. Didn't like the process in the primary, and felt like I was holding my nose voting for him.
I knew his idea of conservative and mine were far from unity. Then 911 happened. His response was everything anyone would have expected from a president. He inspired us all and led the world.
How and why things got so out of hand is hard to say, the leftist media, just plain old opposition party, or a powerful foreign object turning far too many people away from the USA and it's leader. Whatever the cause, it hurt us and continues to.
The chapter that probably isn't in GWB's book is how that bank bailout worked out in the end. The economy is everything to our way of life. Think hard and find better advisers than Bush had at his disposal. A great man no doubt. But also one of the best presidents ever to be so poorly served by his staff. While the leftist media was having a heyday and insiders were leaking dangerous stuff why couldn't someone leak some of this confirming data?

I am NOT one bit surprised that old Saddam was in possession of bio weapons... because I remember wild Bill Cohen and Maddie Albright making the tv circuit (because old bjClinton could not show his ‘red’ face) describing a 5 lb sack of sugar being the equivalent of the amount of anthrax old Saddam had.
Now how did this documentation get leaked? Sorry I have been busy with ‘life’ and this post does not describe how the documentation made its way into the public view.
As I remember Russia and China were NOT on our side as well as France and Germany when it came time to remove old Saddam. Personally, I think the silence in regard to what was discovered was not only a national security consideration but as much so not to expose the whose who around this globe that already had ‘oil’ contracts with Saddam in defiance of the UN which even perverted its own ruling with that sham of ‘oil’ for rotten ‘food’ program.

We had troops in Iraq post here on FR that they were finding them. The presence of WMD is super top secret stuff. After a while, we just assumed that the government could not tell the world about what was being discovered.
At any rate, you think if they found a live nuke in someones basement in Chicago, that anyone without a secret clearance would be told about it ?
Saddam HAD to have WMD just to counter what the Iranians are and were doing.
