Haslam showed up at a Tennessee Firearms Association meeting last night. Me and a couple of other guys including richard hamblin got him to say he would sign legislation. This helps pressure the legislature.
This has been spreading all over Tennessee. It is a big deal because Haslam has a B rating with the NRA. He was a member of Bloomberg's Mayors against guns. As Mayor he oversaw the banning of guns in Knoxville City Parks.
My audio on youtube which is only edited for time (I took out a few people's questions because they made little sense and had no relation to vermont style open carry)

Thanks for re-posting the truth. Some less than honest FReepers hit the other thread without any reading comprehension whatsoever. He will work to keep Tennessee free.
Well, Haslam is SAYING the right things and he is far ahead of McWhorter so we will most likely be the next governor. We will have to wait and see.
He’s going to win, and the pressure to have him understand 2A rights is a correct measure. His Bloomberg support was one hell of a gaffe which he soon regretted. As you say, we shall see.
Promise them anything.....
Mcwherter sure as heck won’t go there.
I appreciate your efforts but Haslam is awful slick.
Who did you want, Ramsey, the one guy that McWherter would beat......
I have so many relatives in Tennessee that they could form a political bloc on their own and they are pushing for him.
As usual statewide in TN the two ostensibly conservative candidates split the GOP open primary vote on the right handing it easily to the moderate...and a well heeled one this time
it’s how we got Corker and others in the past and how we lost decent Congressional candidates a few months ago to nobodies
you have no proof whatsoever Ramsey would have lost to McWherter..none...just your hunch
one that I doubt especially in this election year
You shouldn’t need a permit to carry a handgun period!!! It is not in the Constitution!!!
After looking at the numbers in the primary, I just didn’t see where he was gaining any ground at all (Ramsey). McWherter stayed out of it. His machine is full on now.
and if you are referring to Wamp, he has more time in but thats it.
Years back, I wanted to fax my ltc to Vermont state police because I was going on vacation there and intended to carry...
The fine young female trooper told me there were no legal requirements for flatlanders, as long as roscoe was visible.
I actually am on record here thinking Wamp had a better chance than Ramsey
when actually Haslam just killed them both
TN needs to close their state primaries as bad as NH and South Carolina GOP need to close their POTUS ones
then we can produce more solid righties in a state that is pretty darn conservative outside Nashville proper, Shelby county and a handful of black majority counties..
Well, I’ll be honest with you. The conservatives I work with wanted nothing to do with politicians that held office at the State or Federal level. They witnessed no major problems in Knoxville and that was it. The Bloomberg thing was something Haslem needed to address. It seems he has.
You can carry any way you want in VT without any permit open or concealed. That is what is meant by “Vermont style carry laws.” Alaska is the only other state that has a similar law. In VT it is in their state Constitution and has been from the beginning. In Alaska it is a fairly recent statute.
24/7/365 anyhow.
Give not a crap about statute or geogreaphy.
