Videos: Rep. Jim McGovern (D-MA): “I Think the Constitution is Wrong”

During a debate with his Republican opponent, Marty Lamb, in Massachusetts Jim McGovern said the thinks the Constitution is wrong in regards to campaign financing.

"We have a lousy Supreme Court decision that has opened the floodgates, and so we have to deal within the realm of constitutionality. And a lot of the campaign finance bills that we have passed have been declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court. I think the Constitution is wrong. I don’t think that money is the same thing as human beings."

In the question and answer section of the debate an audience member apparently asked McGovern about his remark. He promptly denied ever making the comment in the first place:

"I’m sorry I blew your mind but I didn’t say that the Constitution was wrong. I said that the interpretation by my friend here was wrong."

Demwits think free speech that doesn’t agree with their free speech should be unconstitutional, and they think corporations and special interests that don’t support their unconstitutional agenda are unconstitutional. Of course, Demwits love their pop commieism, seeing it as an evolution of thought over the Constitution and the self-serving white guys who wrote it. Sadly, too many Demwits are indoctrinated with so much liberal drivel their brains have mucked into intellectual dog squat.

An inability to tell the truth must be a genetic prerequisite to being a democrat.

But millions of dollars extorted from union members can be spent on any candidate or cause the unions bosses deem worthy.

Who can take these idiots seriously.

The only times a Progressive will ever tell you the truth is when they inadvertently blurt it out.

Unfortunately people elect these dimwits. Remember 53% of your countrymen voted for Hussein.

In fairness, in context, it appears he probably meant to say “the Supreme Court is wrong”.

Of course like most Democrats, I’m sure he isn’t crazy about much of the Constitution, as written, but prefers the mythical “living document” concept that allows judges to make it say whatever they want it to say. Freudian slip?

The problem is deeper than campaign finance. We need to address the issue of why corporations are deemed to have the same rights as individual citizens, and even more.

Sadly, this maroon is the Congressional Representative from my District. He doesn’t represent ME, though, because I’m in disagreement with about everything he stands for.

why corporations are deemed to have the same rights as individual citizens,

I take it you think they should be in business to please you. You don't really believe in the theory of free enterprise.

Well, it is somewhat complicated. Some people feel that corporations should not be allowed to spend shareholder money on politicians, some people feel that unions should not be allowed to spend union members’ money on politicians, etc. Those questions don’t answer themselves.

Uh, no. I believe in free enterprise. I don't believe businesses need to have all the same rights as people, and more. If we keep going the way we are, soon a corporation will itself have the right to vote.
