David Horowitz is one of those rare people who change lives. I know, because he changed mine.
When I started snapping out of my Leftist trance three years ago, I had nowhere to turn. I didn't have the foggiest idea why thugs were surrounding Obama. Weren't the progressives the good guys?
I turned to my local Borders bookstore for some answers. There I found the writings of David Horowitz, to which I could immediately relate. Like me, Horowitz was a Jew from New York who was hoodwinked by radicalism.
But that's where the similarities stopped. My parents were JFK-type liberals who loved this country. Horowitz was a red diaper baby.
Horowitz is also many years my senior. While he was a fiery radical during the '60s, I was (blessedly) too young to participate in those violent and misogynistic times. I came of age during the comparatively mellow feminist revolution.

Well, that may be so, but I don’t [want to] believe it!
This is something I’ve just gotten acquainted with in my apologetics studies. The way to defeat an arbitrary argument is to hold your “opponent” to be absolutely consistent with his assertions, and show where such a position becomes absurd.
The thing to remember about leftists is that they believe themselves to be “a good person”, even though the truth is that everyone is a fallen sinner, and their consciences constantly tell them so.
In order to keep up the facade of “a good person”, one must constantly justify that assertion against your own conscience. To do so, a leftist will take any issue and form an opinion on it based on how it justifies their “good person”hood for holding this opinion. Their downfall is that they stop examining the issue at that exact point, and don’t consider the consequences or ramifications of such a policy.
And, to explode their strongly held, but arbitrarily asserted, opinion, all you have to do is walk them a little further down the road.
Of course, the point of holding opinion Y on issue X is not that it is the “right” viewpoint on issue X, or even that it is workable, but that it makes the leftist holding opinion Y feel good about himself. This is why you’ll get the “that may be so, but I don’t [want to] believe it!” response.
Something funny to do, before you blow up their position on the issue, is to ask “how does it make you feel about yourself to have that opinion?”
You are my hero.I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when that ass chewing was going on.
LOL!
The main Leftist propaganda line is to the effect they have higher I.Q.s and are better educated.
My experience is quite the opposite: Leftists aren’t very intelligent, and while many have degrees from elite institutions of higher learning, they lack basic knowledge in many disciplines such as history and politics.
I wish in those days we had the Internet and videophones - I could have posted the video on youtube!

Do you have a suggestion?
A global revolution, like a hit movie, needs a theme song.
No doubt.
I read an article on this subject (I wish I had the link, an excellent article) of how much Leftist education changed the political orientation of young people and the author’s conclusion was, “not very much.”
In general young people tend to reflect the politics of their families, so kids coming from a conservative family remained conservative, even if they graduated from a Leftist college like Harvard.
And vice versa - Red diaper babies stayed socialists.
The difference, however, is that Leftists have few babies because they practice abortion; whereas, conservatives have more children because they believe in marriage and family life.
The conclusion of this author was that conservative values would triumph despite the Leftist domination of education.
My take is that the outrageous Leftist propaganda effort going on in education is self defeating. For instance, it was the college kids in the 1980s who first coined the words, “Politically Correct” to describe what was going down on campus.
After all, kids tend to rebel against authority figures, so if the college authorities are saying “socialism is good” - the kids go in the opposite direction.
Excellent article:

Politics of the family more important than those from Leftist education.

Though those may be a little too...ummm...intense for some.
Still thinking...
None Dare Call it Treason - 25 Years Later by John Stormer documents it very well.
The lefties tend to confuse intelligence and education. They are 2 very different items.
Bide your time... you will get a chance.
LLS
that was exactly why that Brooke Farm community (utopian socialist community founded by Emerson’s circle) lasted only a few years.... literary types were interested not in actual work to make the place a success but in sitting under a tree
Probably still too intense.
These last two years have given me hope; the most liberal activist will make a hard right when they can’t get a job. The younger they are when this happens, the better; I graduated in the early 90s in a crappy job market, and I still make Pat Buchanan look like a cross-dressing Bolshevik. “White” liberalism especially should be dead, since when applying for a job at companies’ websites you go through a lengthy process, only to be asked at the very end what race & gender you are.
The frightening aspect of this is that those same young people are very much like disillusioned, unemployed Europeans of the 1930s.
