Nancy Pelosi says that food stamps and unemployment insurance will grow the US economy and lift it from the recession that Barack Obama has helped to worsen. Pelosi, that genius and all-around brilliant analyst of the US economy and everything financial, spoke Wednesday in an overly defensive response to Newt Gingrichs right-on-the-mark salvo against Pelosi and her Democrat Party. In recent comments, Gingrich correctly advised Republicans to make a contrast between Democrats who promote food stamps as their economic policy, and Republicans who actually promote the useful concept called paychecks to grow the prosperity of Americans. Confusingly, Pelosi reacted to Gingrichs assertion by actually admitting that, yes, Democrats are indeed the party of food stamps (okay, and unemployment for everyone, too)!

What do we expect of the woman who said congress has to pass the health care reform bill before we will know what’s in it.
So, if unemployment grows, this grows the stimulus effect and GDP grows leading to decreased unemployment?
Nancy, then if GDP grows and unemployments decreases, you will call for greater unemployment to grow the economy?
Are you senile or the stupidest person on the planet.
Yes.
Next question?
It’s that kind of math that got us in this position in the first place. It just doesn’t make sense!
So, if we take her idea to its “logical” conclusion, EVERYONE should become unemployed and sign up for unemployment benefits and food stamps. This will make the economy recover instantly, with an added bonus that with $1.75 going back in to the economy for every $1.00 spent on welfare, the “mythical” deficit should disappear injust a few short years.
Wow! That’s incerdible.
One problem, though, if EVERYONE is unemployed, who will hand out the food stamps?
It's called Communism.
If everyone is unemployed who will PAY for the food stamps?
only difference between today and 1930’s is today everybody gets supported by the gubmint.................... With maxed out credit cards..........................that China is backing................for awhile............
Why, “government money” will be used for that, of course...
She honestly believes that taking money from the productive to subsidize the non-productive will grow the economy. Every day, we get more insights into the mindset that got us into the disaster we are in.
She really IS crazy.
Stupid is as Stupid does.
I heard the full quote on tv and to be fair to Nancy, she did say that that was the opinion of economic sages from a broad spectrum. She didn’t come up with that all by herself.
She paid taxpayer money for some clowns to come up with it. She is admitting to be too stupid to think about it and she crazy enough not to know it is stupid.
Love that picture - just another reason to question all those in politics! They are for themselves and they have nothing to do with doing the right thing or what is right!
Damn, can we get some Washington’s or Lincoln’s in office? Well, probably not since they seem to have become extinct.
Are there no statesmen available - that believe in America and want to do the RIGHT thing?
When you get a bunch of nuts together, it doesn’t make your idea less nuttier.
She confusing the movement of cash from savings/investment (present or future) TO consumption. This actually causes a decline in an economy because the thing consumed has a lesser value than the cost of it (i.e. consumption means capital eaten today is not here for investment tomorrow).
Nancy is the poster hag for all that is wrong with this country.
This is why we have to stop electing spoiled rich people who don’t have a clue what the real world is like. The worst thing that has happened to this country is turning politics into entertainment.
