Republicans beware: Mark Kirk is a liberal
http://dailycaller.com ^ | OCt 7,2010 | Tamara Holder

Posted on 10/07/2010 7:24:34 AM PDT by Maelstorm

What does Illinois Tea Party candidate Michael Labno have to do to get some attention around here? Does he have to be more like Christine O’Donnell: should he make some bizarre comment about meatballs, get caught buying vibrators and boil some frogs?

Or does he have to be more like Illinois Republican candidate Mark Kirk: shall he create an imaginary life story where he single-handedly killed Osama bin Laden with his .50 caliber sniper rifle, was awarded a medal of honor and then devoted his life to reading fairytales to nursery school students?

On October 5, 2010, Rasmussen Reports announced that a “statewide telephone survey of Likely Voters shows Kirk picking up 45% of the vote, while Giannoulias earns 41% support. Four percent (4%) back Green Party candidate LeAlan Jones. Another five percent (5%) prefer some other candidate in the race, and six percent (6%) are undecided.”

Rasmussen cannot justify its failure to name the “some other candidate” who has 1% more support than Jones. Disappointing. Rasmussen had a duty to name Labno in the interest of fairness to all parties, to ensure more accurate reporting by the media, and because voters rely heavily on polling numbers to help them make a decision.

Labno shouldn’t be ignored for his lack of wack.

Warning to Republicans (or those who are considering voting Republican): If you vote for Mark Kirk, you will be voting for a liberal. So, if you are going to vote for a liberal, then make it easier on yourself and simply vote for Alexi Giannoulias, since he’s the real Democrat.

Wait, before you get all worked-up and accuse me, an Illinois Democrat, of trying to persuade the right to lean left, please continue reading because my point has zilch to do with Giannoulias…I simply want to make sure that the person you vote for accurately and properly represents you.

Michael Labno may be your guy, instead of Mark Kirk. Why?

Kirk is a Republican. Or is he? Kirk voted to allow the government to confiscate your legally owned firearm in the event of a national emergency. He is pro-choice, saved millions in funding for Planned Parenthood and was just one of 17 Republicans to vote to fund abortions for female inmates. Kirk is for cap and trade and voted for TARP not once, but twice.

Labno is a self-proclaimed “recovering Republican; three years sober, officially.” He wonders why we still haven’t found Osama bin Laden and is disappointed with the Republicans’ support of the bailouts. He wants small businesses and community banks to thrive again. He is pro-life and pro-guns. Labno owns his positions and he hasn’t manufactured his qualifications or made up outlandish stories to gain support.

Fred Newbrough, one of Labno’s Facebook friends, wrote, “We are tired of the same old games by the GOP…Kirk is the most horrible candidate imaginable for the Senate. He isn’t even reliably fiscally conservative. The good thing is that you, Mike, are in the race. Illinois has a real choice: a Tea Party choice, a conservative choice, a libertarian choice.”

Illinois voters, before you allow a senator to drive you to Washington, make sure “some other candidate” isn’t hidden in a blind-spot; otherwise, he may crash before you even get to your final destination.

Other than party designation, name 5 differences between Mrk Kirk and his Democrat opponent.

He is against "card check" (which would allow unions to organize without a vote).

He is against immigration amnesty and supports completing the border fence and sending more troops to the border.

He favors extending the Bush tax cuts for everyone.

He is against closing Gitmo

As a congressman, he voted against Obamacare and he has indicated that he wants to repeal it.

You wish because you’re the one choosing to vote for the democrat with the (R), not me. I don’t have to choose either one. Same as I didn’t have to choose and never voted for Charlie Crist.

Know conservative, know how to vote. If no conservative, they get no vote.

You wish because you’re the one choosing to vote for the democrat with the (R), not me.

I'm choosing the candidate with the 58% ACU rating, not the guy who'll have a 0% rating.

I didn’t have to choose and never voted for Charlie Crist.

Here's to you!!

If no conservative, they get no vote.

We don't get many conservative choices here in Illinois. We do the best we can.

Yes, excellent logic. That's why we MUST elect Republican Arlen Specter. He will not vote for Harry Reid for Majority Leader.

Oh wait...

I supported his opponent in the primary and I think Bush was a fool for interfering in that race.

He will not vote for Harry Reid for Majority Leader.

You're right. He never did and he never will.

Oh I so hope that won’t happen. Although I know it’s true, it’s hard to imagine anyone being to the left of Turban Durbin.

>> As liberal as Kirk is on social issues, he’s a pretty decent fiscal conservative << >> What a load. <<

Hey! I figured out where all the out-of-state Arnuld cheerleaders went. They became Kirk cheerleaders! Only that crowd believes that surrounding yourself with far-left Democrats, refusing to endorse repeal of horrible RAT programs, championing taxpayer funded human embryo experimentation & "green" jobs, supporting cap n' trade, promising zillions of goodies in government handouts, and refusing to rule out more taxes makes someone "a pretty decent fiscal conservative"

Just what we need, more Ahnuld-style "fiscal conservatives".

>>> No, none of us would support someone who has been a loyal, leftist Democratic vote in the Senate if she just changed her party label. <<

Oh really? I seem to recall a bunch of "conservative" freepers slobbering all over Al Gore's running mate Joe LIEberman for precisely that reason. And LIEberman didn't even change his party label by choice, he was thrown out of the RAT party despite doing their bidding 90% of the time.

“For whom did you vote, in the primary, for Senate and governor? I voted for Lowery and Andrzejewski.”

I voted for Hughes and Proft. I rest my case as far as the disorganization of conservatives in Illinois. We need to get organized in the primaries. NO ALI G IN THE SENATE!

Good luck getting 58% out of him. As I mentioned to someone before, 58% is the best you can hope to achieve. What you will actually get is something well below that. Once RINOs are given power, they kill and destroy conservative ideas. I’ve got one in my state and there is one in the state to the north of me in South Carolina. We’ve seen them before, we know what they do, we know how they behave. You are whistling past the graveyard if you think electing Kirk is going to end up any percentage of good.

Learn from those who have already gone through this process. South Carolina has yet to rid themselves of their uberRINO Graham. We are in the process of ridding ourselves of Crist. He lost. He should have been gone. It is not easy getting these people out once they get in. They will say anything and do anything to keep power. They will lie and play tricks never playing by established rules to hold on to their power. Just take a look at Lisa Murkowski.

Yes, and that will be higher than 0%.

You are whistling past the graveyard if you think electing Giannoulias is going to end up any percentage of good.

>>>> Other than party designation, name 5 differences between Mrk Kirk and his Democrat opponent. <<<

1) He is against "card check" (which would allow unions to organize without a vote).

He is against immigration amnesty and supports completing the border fence and sending more troops to the border.

Mark Kirk SAYS he is "against amnesty" (as does any Senate candidate who doesn't want to commit political suicide, see Mel Martinez for examples), however Kirk voted in FAVOR of amnesty bills in the past. Like most of the liberal beltway establishment, he cast a token vote in favor of the border fence, but NEVER allocated funds for it, so it won't ever get completed. He has NOT worked to 'send more troops' to the border. Kirk voted AGAINST requiring hospitals to report illegal aliens, attended college in Mexico where he learned to speak fluent Spanish, and is currently running spanish-language ads where he promises to fight for "reunification" of Mexican families, and says is Spanish "Latino families deserve a Senator who will fight for them"

2) He favors extending the Bush tax cuts for everyone.

He is against closing Gitmo

Kirk SAID he was against closing Gitmo, but when the bill actually came up for a vote, Kirk voted WITH the RATs on final passage to allocate funds to transfer prisoners out of Gitmo. He also SAID he against sending the Gitmo terrorists to Illinois, then flip-flopped on that as well and said that he had some initial safety concerns but may have overreacted and the Obama administration assumed him they were taking steps to prevent any public danger, blah blah blah. In short, whether Kirk is "against closing Gitmo" depends on what audience he's talking to that day.

As a congressman, he voted against Obamacare and he has indicated that he wants to repeal it.

Kirk SAID would "lead the effort" to repeal it, then flip-flopped on that "pledge" almost immediately after winning the primary. He now even admits he "regrets" signing a written pledge he would work to repeal it, and says Republicans have to accept that we were outvoted and that the bill is settled law for the foreseeable future. Kirk went so far as to admit he would NOT sponsor outright repeal of the bill even IF Republicans regain control of BOTH houses of Congress and could pass such a law. Kirk is now of the opinion we should just "fix" the bill to "make it better"

Looks like Grunthor wins the bet. You failed to cite at least five differences Kirk has with his RAT opponent. Citing things Kirk says to get votes don't count unless his record matches his rhetoric. I could claim my income differs from Bill Gates because I'm wealthier, but that doesn't make it true.

I would urge people in Illinois not to shoot themselves in the foot by electing Gianapolis by default,

Likewise, I would urge those who don't live in Illinois and don't understand how corrupt both parties are here, and don't understand how the Republican party establishment in this state rigs the primary system in favor of their hand-picked candidate to keep their uninformed comments to themselves.

TYVM.

You forgot the fact that Mark Kirk voted YES on Cap & Trade legislation, and it was only after he was pilloried on the radio by WLS' Don Wade and countless callers to the show that Kirk appeared on that he finally admitted that vote was "a mistake" and that he hadn't read the complete legislation.

Sorry, can't vote for someone who votes YES to bills that they DO NOT READ.

Look, grunthor asked for differences between Kirk and his Dem opponent.

I supplied them. That’s it.

To say their is no difference between Kirk and his Dem opponent is not true. FReepers can have their own opinions, but they can’t have their own facts.

And I supplied but one example of where Kirk and Giannoulias are exactly the same.

"Fiscal Conservative" here in Illinois is code for "Social Liberal" btw. We all know that too.

Actually, we have Brady running as an actual conservative for governor and leading by 9 points. Then we have the poofter from the 10th District, moonstruck over the nether portions of men's digestive systems, absolutely bent on the continuation of the slaughter of little babies, an enemy of the RTKBA, and a brie and chablis enemy of civilization generally. The poofter is in something of a flat-footed tie with the half vast gangster banker Giannoulias. The polls suggest that the poofter does so poorly because he is so lacking in conservatism by comparison with Brady. That is the message for this year in Illinois to be crammed down the throats of the Combine faux "Republicans" and their willing enablers.

How long would we have to suffer the poofter in office if we make the mistake of electing him now??? 2 or three terms unless we can drive him out of the GOP to the Demonratic Parry where he belongs or, unless, ummmm, his health removes him. Meanwhile, he provides a desperately needed financial lifeline to the corruptocrats who run the Illinois GOP with their special rules for self-perpetuation and their general obeisance to the Chicago Demonrat Machine.

ACU rating??? Big deal. The damage that the poofter will do to the GOP, to Illinois and to America will run much deeper than any ACU rating. BTW, are you aware that David Keene, President for Life at Least of the ACU willingly took money from Poppy Bush to try to stop Ronaldus Maximus's nomination in 1980??? Can you grasp the meaning of elitist enemies of conservatism??? Or of Lenin's term" "Useful idiots???"

BTW, for the benefit of those not from Illinois: Does the screen name "Toddsterpatriot" reference the corruptocrat hereditary Chairman of the Crook County Board, Todd Stroger, who finally proved too much even for Crook County Demonrats who dumped him in this year's primary??? He is referenced as the Toddler or the Toddster.

In chess, there is the concept of the "knight fork" in which the knight simultaneously attacks the opposing king and queen. Since the loss of the king is the loss of the game, the defense must usually give up its most powerful piece, the queen. The knight fork is the way of life for the Crook County Machine. It can also be summarized as "We win, we win. We lose, we win." With the help of corrupt state GOP leaders and trash like Kirk, the Machine need not worry about an occasional "Republican" victory since candidates like Kirk are willing stooges just as willing to fund Chicago Demonrats and corrupt Combine Republicans as are Dickie Durbin or Alex Giannoulias.

Step one: destroy (not merely defeat) ANY liberal posing as an Illinois statewide "Republican."

Step two: reclaim the Illinois GOP by whatever means necessary since the party rules have been so long rigged in favor of genuflecting to the Machine.

Step three: recruit decently traditionally moral and patriotic Democrats to cross over. We ought not be afraid to recruit socially conservative blacks and Hispanics. No more Muffy or Skipper or polo club twits running the GOP. "Oh, Muff, all these PRINCIPLES or whatever they call them just make my head hurt! Why can't those pesty peasant conservatives just leave us and our great, great, great grandaddy's party alone! Golly Gee! It's OUR party not theirs. Look what they did to Princess Lisa in Alaska! And to that Castle Republican in Delaware! They wouldn't even allow Bob Bennett to be in the Utah primary and he is a third generation Senator and their ancestors were digging potatoes when his were in the Senate." Did you know John Kerry claims to have served in Vietnam and that the Obamanation claims to be Christian??

Step four: Systematically destroy the Illinois Demonratic Party and its supine allies in the GOP. Finally, if you are voting for the poofter, you are doing the best you can for Richie Daley and the Combiners but not for Illinois, the GOP or for America. If Giannoulias who seems to have the IQ of a shoestring, actually votes with Obama, he will be gone in short order. The priority, however, is to recognize that Demonrats are going to be Demonrats and to understand that the most insidious enemies are the surrender monkeys or worse who claim Republicanism but would put the likes of the poofter in public office to make the Republican brand a badge of social revolutionary shame. That's why electing Giannoulias and ending the poofter's career once and for all is the conservative thing to do. When the party rank and file develop a consciousness of rule or ruin, we win. We will make up for Giannoulias's votes in other states not as corrupted as our own.
