Republicans beware: Mark Kirk is a liberal
http://dailycaller.com ^ | OCt 7,2010 | Tamara Holder

What does Illinois Tea Party candidate Michael Labno have to do to get some attention around here? Does he have to be more like Christine O’Donnell: should he make some bizarre comment about meatballs, get caught buying vibrators and boil some frogs?

Or does he have to be more like Illinois Republican candidate Mark Kirk: shall he create an imaginary life story where he single-handedly killed Osama bin Laden with his .50 caliber sniper rifle, was awarded a medal of honor and then devoted his life to reading fairytales to nursery school students?

On October 5, 2010, Rasmussen Reports announced that a “statewide telephone survey of Likely Voters shows Kirk picking up 45% of the vote, while Giannoulias earns 41% support. Four percent (4%) back Green Party candidate LeAlan Jones. Another five percent (5%) prefer some other candidate in the race, and six percent (6%) are undecided.”

Rasmussen cannot justify its failure to name the “some other candidate” who has 1% more support than Jones. Disappointing. Rasmussen had a duty to name Labno in the interest of fairness to all parties, to ensure more accurate reporting by the media, and because voters rely heavily on polling numbers to help them make a decision.

Labno shouldn’t be ignored for his lack of wack.

Warning to Republicans (or those who are considering voting Republican): If you vote for Mark Kirk, you will be voting for a liberal. So, if you are going to vote for a liberal, then make it easier on yourself and simply vote for Alexi Giannoulias, since he’s the real Democrat.

Wait, before you get all worked-up and accuse me, an Illinois Democrat, of trying to persuade the right to lean left, please continue reading because my point has zilch to do with Giannoulias…I simply want to make sure that the person you vote for accurately and properly represents you.

Michael Labno may be your guy, instead of Mark Kirk. Why?

Kirk is a Republican. Or is he? Kirk voted to allow the government to confiscate your legally owned firearm in the event of a national emergency. He is pro-choice, saved millions in funding for Planned Parenthood and was just one of 17 Republicans to vote to fund abortions for female inmates. Kirk is for cap and trade and voted for TARP not once, but twice.

Labno is a self-proclaimed “recovering Republican; three years sober, officially.” He wonders why we still haven’t found Osama bin Laden and is disappointed with the Republicans’ support of the bailouts. He wants small businesses and community banks to thrive again. He is pro-life and pro-guns. Labno owns his positions and he hasn’t manufactured his qualifications or made up outlandish stories to gain support.

Fred Newbrough, one of Labno’s Facebook friends, wrote, “We are tired of the same old games by the GOP…Kirk is the most horrible candidate imaginable for the Senate. He isn’t even reliably fiscally conservative. The good thing is that you, Mike, are in the race. Illinois has a real choice: a Tea Party choice, a conservative choice, a libertarian choice.”

Illinois voters, before you allow a senator to drive you to Washington, make sure “some other candidate” isn’t hidden in a blind-spot; otherwise, he may crash before you even get to your final destination.

Sorry, I didn’t know that. He is running ads here in St. Louis touting the right message. He is across the river from me, so not on my ballot.

"A few new tough conservative Senators should be able to keep the weakling in line."

I don't know about that. Pansy Graham and Juan McLame are still in still in the Senate. Nor have we gotten rid of the lesser RINOs in the Senate like the Maine twins Snowe and Collins, Dick Lugar, Orin Hatch, the Tennessee boys Alexander and Corker, the unreliable Georgia boys Isakson and Chambliss, the two Texas terrors Hutchison and Cornyn, Sam Switchback in Kansas, Scott Brown in Massachusetts, and Thune in SD. They all offer cover for RINOs. That does not even take into consideration any other new RINOs coming in.

It seems the new tough conservative senators may find themselves quite busy trying to herd all these RINOs, and I'm sure there may be some I missed.

The primary is over. Vote for the person on the Republican ticket.

The analogy is that some people around here will shill and flak for ANYONE running with an “R” label, no matter how execrable they are. The ACU rating is meaningless, because it never tells the whole story.

Like how we’ve beaten Dick Durbin ?

Like we'd beat Alexi if he got in?

I would LOVE to vote for the equivalent of a DeMint in Illinois, but I'm not going to hold my breath. Keep thinking that 54% is the same as 0%.

I’m not saying you or anyone MUST do anything. I’m presenting reasonable arguments as to why it’s a wiser vote than for a 3rd party 2 percent of the vote candidate. If you prefer tall tales of conspiracies and secret combinations to logic and common sense, I wish you well.

Sen. McCain isn’t a RINO, especially compared to Rep. Kirk (my congressman). According to www.vote-smart.org: these are some of McCain’s latest interest group ratings: U.S. Chamber of Commerce, 100%; Citizens Against Government Waste, 100%; John Birch Society, 90%; ACLU, 17%; and AFL-CIO, 0%. According to www.vote-smart.org, these are some of Rep. Kirk’s latest interest group ratings: Planned Parenthood, 100%; AFL-CIO, 48%: ACLU, 45%; NAACP, 44%; NEA, B; Americans for Democratic Action, 35%; Gun Owners of America, F-; ACU, 58%.; and John Birch Society, 33%.

In 2008, I didn’t vote for McCain, since he’s not as conservative as I am, but he’s not a RINO.

I totally agree!

And hopefully in 6 years we can replace him with someone more conservative.

We HAD one. His name was Peter Fitzgerald. The Combine opposed him 100% and ran him out of office. The RINO thug who largely made his stay unpleasant was rewarded by Zero with a Cabinet post... Ray LaHood.

Thankfully a lot of folks around here know my “conspiracy theories” (sic) often pan out. It’s amazing we always see a flurry of flacking for destructive RINOs on FR who berate the rest of us for exposing the danger of electing such people, and when we’re proven right, these same flunkies seem to vanish from FR.

The analogy is that some people around here will shill and flak for ANYONE running with an “R” label, no matter how execrable they are. The ACU rating is meaningless, because it never tells the whole story. The analogy still falls apart despite your need to dismiss the ACU ratings which do tell a story, even if not "the whole story." Kirk is no Patty Murray and any claim to the contrary is purely counter-factual. No, none of us would support someone who has been a loyal, leftist Democratic vote in the Senate if she just changed her party label. Kirk is not any of those things, so epic fail on the analogy.

The time to take after Republicans you don't like is in the primary. Afterwards, you're just helping the Democrats. And that sir, is a fact. I'd rather shill for "anything with an R after their name" than indirectly do so for a Democrat by undermining Republicans from whom we have some hope of conservative votes more than half the time than from Democrats from whom we'll get nothing but liberal votes.

Yes, you'll say you're for the electrician not for the Dem. But come on dude--step into reality. A no-name nobody with no money isn't going to win--not even close. You'd need EVERYONE now supporting Kirk to suddenly rush over to this guy's side. You REALLY think that's going to happen? Reality. It's a wonderful concept.

And which of your conspiracy theories have panned out? Please be honest and don’t just claim you predicted something after it happened.

Yes and he was great. Unfortunately, he's not on the ballot.

I'd still prefer to get the right vote 58% of the time instead of 0% of the time.

Too much principle over practicality around here.

Folks, this is war. You take the best you can get, which may mean a flawed candidate who is only with you part of the time.

Half-full beats empty.

No. NO. NO.

Abandoning principle for "practicality" gets you Charlie Crist, Arlen Spector and Lisa Murkowski.

Don't tell me I have to support any of these traitors and it's not like we didn't know they were traitors. We were merely told by a number of other traitors that we had to vote for them. Where else were we going to go? ' We need a person with an (R) next to their name in a seat,' these traitors said. Each one of these people have stabbed us in the back. You can add that sore loser Castle to the list as well. RINOs do not play well with others. They will kill you in your sleep if you give them the chance.

Unfortunately too many keep telling us we have to give them the chance. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. RINOs won't change. They will trample you to death if you don't show them who is boss with a high powered rifle delivering a kill shot. This year has proved it. You can never trust RINOs. Elect a RINO and you are electing a democrat in all but label only. Be ready for trouble.

I’m sorry, but that’s nonsense. Using a single ratings chart on a handful of votes which doesn’t tell you about the entirety of the person. You’ve been informed repeatedly about the who, what, why and where in regards to Kirk, and you simply dismiss it ALL, merely because he has an “R” label. You want to be an “R” flunky, fine, but I’m a Conservative, and so is this website, and you’re still shilling for a dangerous left-wing phony. Have you ANY standards for ideological acceptability ?

I could list some, but it doesn’t matter to you. You’re too busy going on with your Rbot talking points and attempting to deflect attention from the fact Mark Kirk is a dangerous Socialist fraud, liar and Combiner tool. Tell me, does it not bother you Kirk has been privately attempting to sabotage Bill Brady’s candidacy for IL Governor ? Brady’s not a Combiner.

What does he vote right on ? Abortion ? Nope. Illegals ? Nope, he’s as open borders as they come. Lies about his military record, his suicide attempt in Lake Michigan, his political allies in IL... Sorry, dude, I don’t vote for Republican Socialist liars. Elect the open crooked Democrat, at least he’s not hiding in the caucus looking to stab us in the back. The fact I have to EXPLAIN that on a Conservative website is just absurd.
