'Cause devout Christians who pray every day do these kind of things.

On September 15, 2010, Obama’s addressed the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. In his Obama quoted from the preamble to the Declaration of Independence. Except is wasn't an exact quote.

“So let me close by saying this. Long before America was even an idea, this land of plenty was home to many peoples. To British and French, to Dutch and Spanish, to Mexican — (applause) — to countless Indian tribes. We all shared the same land. We didn’t always get along. But over the centuries, what eventually bound us together — what made us all Americans — was not a matter of blood, it wasn’t a matter of birth. It was faith and fidelity to the shared values that we all hold so dear. We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, endowed with certain inalienable rights: life and liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”

Endowed with certain inalienable rights....endowed by whom Mr. President?

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

Oh yeah, Him.

Of course, Mr. Thin-Skinned will complain that Rush Limbaugh is somehow responsible for Americans questioning his religious sensibilities.

You can redact the Creator all you want Mr. President, the rest of us still know from whence come these inalienable rights.

It is axiomatic that something which is created has a Creator.

He’s made his entire term into a prolonger career of slapping Americans in the face, day in and day out. This is only the latest in a long list of antics. Each thing he has done has been to antagonize, mock, and trivialize the values Americans have. The perfect celebrity president.

This was deliberate. His plan is to change the words to read "endowed by their government". To him and his ilk, all rights are granted by government.

Incidentally, before this country was founded, there were no Mexican people either.

While I can see not mentioning God or the Creator in a speech about rights, to cut it out of a quote from the founding documents? Outrageous.

Where do we find a transcendent basis for rights? Do we just make them up? If so, then who ever has power gets to decide. Do we trust the politicians we elect to give us rights?

With this guy in power, our nation is endangered.

You are indeed correct, my friend. Mexican is a nationality, requiring that a nation of Mexico exists. There was no Mexican nation until 1821 when the inhabitants of certain Spanish colonies gained their independence from Spain. Prior to that, there was no such thing as a nation of Mexico.

You may think this is splitting hairs...but, to me...this is a deliberate and egregious omission.

Some criticisms of Obama have been kind of petty...but this dude is a Constitutional Scholar.

He made a deliberate omission. He’s a SCHOLAR! Does God or does God not endow us with our rights?

Please understand my point.

His misrepresentation of the Preamble is inexcusable on the basis of him being a Constitutional Scholar.

He knows EXACTLY what he omitted. You can be created by God and still endowed by your benevolent leader with certain inalienable rights.

I can “create” a large play dough snowman and the government can determine that my play dough snow man has rights.

We, created by God...are endowed BY GOD (not the benevolent leader) with certain inalienable rights.

Since he is a self-proclaimed Constitutional scholar, he knew EXACTLY what he was modifying.

Your wrong on this. The quote actually says that we are endowed with these rights by our Creator (not by gov't) and those 3 he mentioned are among the many rights that our Creator has endowed us with.

Words mean things.

The first time I posted and viewed the quote the text on the right side of the screen was not there. Apparently the University of Chicago Law School was under pressure to hire Obama, so they gave him constitutional law to teach. Maybe they just wanted him where he would do the least harm—their graduates are going to become lawyers, so they don’t need to know anything about the Constitution. Particularly not if they hope to be appointed someday to a judgeship by a Democratic President.
