Popular Asian spice can cure Alzheimer's disease

(NaturalNews) Nature is full of various herbs and spices that protect against disease and even treat and cure it. And according to Chris Kilham, an ethnobotanist and Fox News' "Medicine Hunter", turmeric root -- also known in its extract form as curcumin -- is one such powerful spice that appears to both prevent the onset of Alzheimer's disease and even cure it.
"People who develop Alzheimer's disease get a sticky plaque in the brain called amyloid beta," explained Kilham to Dr. Manny Alvarez in a recent
Fox News interview. Such plaques either develop as a result of
Alzheimer's, or they are the direct cause of it. But either way, they are directly related to the degenerative process.
However studies show that
turmeric actually eliminates these plaques, both when they are first starting to form and even during the late stages of their advancement.
"What we have in turmeric is something that appears to inhibit the development of Alzheimer's disease
and actually help to reduce the occurrence of plaque in
the brain if you have it," noted Kilham. "We know in animal studies, when animals actually have amyloid beta plaque in their brains and they're given turmeric root
that plaque is reduced."
Observational studies have also shown that people groups who eat large amounts of turmeric virtually never get Alzheimer's.
"In countries where people consume a lot of [turmeric], there's a very low incidence of
Alzheimer's disease," emphasized Kilham. "In India and Southeast Asia, it's a rare
disease. And [in the U.S.] it's very, very common."
According to Kilham,
drug companies are hard at work trying to develop drug versions of turmeric, but he recommends
eating real turmeric whenever possible, and taking turmeric extract supplements if eating the spice in food is not an option.
"A challenge that we face is that drug companies
can't patent turmeric root," he said. "So they will continue to try to develop something else. [But] eating turmeric, eating its extracts
appears to be protective against one of the most horrific and debilitating diseases we know."

That might have more to do with life-expectancy than anything else. One would expect lower Alzheimer rates in countries where the median death age is 60.

re: Gout
Just an FYI, a good friend of mine gets gout from time to time, and swears that getting a jar of maraschino cherries, drinking the juice and then eating the cherries gives some pretty quick relief.

LOL, did you even read the very short article?Y'caught me. I'd heard this last year, so I skimmed and skipped. Last year's item didn't make clear the local impact.

My son is a quad and so the involuntary muscles don't get the message from his brain.
Long story short he swallows allot of air at times and it causes a pseudo bowel block.
His Gastroenteroligist came up with a non surg fix at home.
1/2c of Molasses
1/2c milk
warm the 2 in the micro (the milk is the mixer).
The molasses properties will pull everything from your gut.
Not a thing that happens often but a home health choice for sure.

Variety is the Spice to life.
Too much of any one thing not good.
Everything in moderation. Unless it’s “fill in blank”... : )

Cumin and curcumin are two totally different spices.

Are you actually on a public forum claiming that people should only reply to you if you replied to them? Sheese I was chiming in ....

If that is true, shouldnt there be a far lower incidence of Alzheimers in countries where turmeric is a popular spice?
Read the article:
“In countries where people consume a lot of [turmeric], there’s a very low incidence of Alzheimer’s disease,” emphasized Kilham. “In India and Southeast Asia, it’s a rare disease. And [in the U.S.] it’s very, very common.”

Some people use cherry extract, some use celery extract, some use Sodium Bicarbonate, but believe me those are like a BB compared to a 45 caliber of the pharmaceuticals. Actually, the best anti-acute-gout-attack (as opposed to attack prevention) drug is colchicine, derived from the plant autumn crocus, but is extremely toxic and a relatively small overdose can kill. I keep those locked up.

I have a supply of Knudsons Black cherry juice Pure.
Drink shots of it with that first tinge and I mean first little tinge of a gout attack and get those uric acid levels back down.
I will say that it works (I will take an advil if it comes on full blown) in a 3-4 day therapy just as well as what the doc gives.
Trick is catching it early before you are in extreme swelling and pain.
It is painful enough that the first tinge (feels like a joint popping with discomfort) is reconizable.
I can go bouncing/running around the property playing with the dogs and just the uneven twisting can set off an attack if my uric acid level and hydration is off.

Same here, I can't stand her program, I couldn't be more pleased that after all these years of contaminating the airwaves, that Okra Winfrey is finally going off the air.

Opps and important, it is givin in as an enema.
Used to be able to get disposable enema bags but for some reason they took them off the market.
I would love to have the type they use in the xray dept.
It is a gallon with a huge applicator so you can administer the product and it all with bowel contents returns back to the bag for disposal.
Think non walkers for the practicality of the gallon all in one bag.

Perhaps they’re confusing curry with curcumin, which is mentioned in the article.
