Check out the sign-up date of 'My hearts in London - Everett' at post
#267. I've seen some people here do some amazing computer gymnastics (check out
255½) but fabricating a sign-up date on your FR homepage is one of the more interesting stunts! (As you know, real sign-ups began 11/28/97.)

Pretty good as FR goes, but FR’s a piker compared to some.
I wonder how many Ken Hamblin/Michael Reagan Webforums holdovers there are still here.
djf, Sir Gawain, and Humidston are the only ones I still know.

My kids still get a laugh when I explain how when I was a kid, we didn't actually HAVE computers...
In 1998, my mother was explaining to my children that when she was a kid, they didn't have microwave ovens. When my third daughter, who was five at the time, asked (with great concern in her voice), "You mean you didn't have popcorn when you were a kid?"
We all just fell out - literally rolling on the floor laughing! That night, we went to the store and purchased old-fashioned popcorn and made it on the stove with oil, a pan, a lid and 20 minutes of shaking directly over the fire!
Good times!

The nose is so small and full of mucus, generally, wholly inadequate for the kind of breathing one finds comfortable during strenuous activity.
Actually, during strenuous activity, breathing through the nose is the best method to get the maximum amount of oxygen into the lungs.
That is why in the military they have you sing diddy's and jody calls (songs) while you are running and working out; it makes you breath in through the nose and out through the mouth.

Even when it's full of mucus? But seriously, how can the nose be the best method to get the maximum amount of oxygen? The mouth is a bigger passageway.

Mosque at ground zero? I am totally against it because for the muslims it is a sign of victory and conquest against us.+1. It is an outrage! Sadly for me, I live in an ultra-Lib enclave, about 90% federal burro-crats. And they *all* think it's a great idea, that it will show how open and tolerant we are as a society. WTF is happening to people today?
Thank God for FreeRepublic! I'd go absolutely nuts if not for FreeRepublic. I can find like-minded, sane people on FreeRepublic. Aren't you glad for FreeRepublic?

As I recall, he was a member of the Howlin/Peach/nopardons brigade.Well now, that makes perfect sense.
And I agree, I can't believe it took this long for him to leave.

I said: “I hope youre not converting to islam.”
(Random uptight replies followed)
Thats a crappy thing to say to a guy who has for years here been one of the fiercest advocates for snuffing the jihadis.
“And a perfect example of the lowering of discourse that has driven him off. Its not the first time in the past few weeks that his commitment to America has been questioned.”
Folks, maybe people are WOUND TOO TIGHT around here. My islam comment was a random silly joke. Was the first thing that popped into my head, when I noticed the thread from someone leaving Freep. Has nothing to do with him personally or his views, since I don’t know what his views are.

I see the mods have been at work removing the offending posts.
It was a bit of silly picture posting fun while it lasted.
Sometimes people need a bit of a short diversion off the main topic...

“I support this view.”
So do I. Most notably those Sept 09 sign ups. I'm thinking that's when they got their DNC marching orders.

The mouth is a bigger passageway.
But, the mouth is designed to unload into two different organs (stomach and lungs); however, the nose is designed as the express lane to the lungs. Also, when breathing through the mouth, a portion of your oxygen passes into the stomach and therefore you get less air into the lungs, even though overall it is a larger access point. And, if you get too much air into the stomach, it can cause you to puke up - as you have probably seen at the Olympics and other sporting events - these athletes were the ones breathing through their mouths!
Even when it's full of mucus?
Well, if you have ever gone on a three mile run with a stopped up nose, you know that very shortly into the exercise, your nose starts to run (unclog) and usually will completely clear up by the time you are done. It is the ULTIMATE antihistamine - LOL! Although, it will quickly refill if you have a cold or allergies - all you have to do is RUN everywhere and it will clear right back up - LOL!

I have to say that the IQ on the forum dropped due to the large number of idiots who joined in 2008, 2009, and 2010. Look at any stupid post and there is over 70% probability that it coming from members who joined in the last three years. I support this view.
When I joined FR over a decade ago, I had a LOT to learn. I *thought* I knew something, but I quickly learned to shut up, read and gather myself an education.
Yes, many new people signed on on 2008 and later, but that's a good thing. It means that our nation is starting to wake up. People are beginning to figure it out. They want to learn and to join the good fight.
That's why I'm always so gentle with the newbies. I remember the outrage I felt when it finally dawned on me that I'd been lied to for almost 30 years. By my teachers by the media... I remember how badly I wanted to understand the big picture. And I remember having my ass handed to me over and over again when I'd spout some "truth" that I'd been taught and that I sincerely thought was right.
Fortunately for me, a few stepped forward and took me under their wings. I got a lot more from gentle correction than I did by being accused of being a troll or attacked.
I do wish that the experienced, educated FReepers would have more patience and go into "teacher mode" more often. That's what the newbs really need.
Most of them are here for the right reason - they're hungry for the truth. We should go ahead and feed them.

I never noticed that. I guess the next time I get a cold, I'm going to have to go running. I just hope it clears up quickly, because I'm not sure how far I can run anymore.

OPINION:
Well, FreeRepublic.com is not about us; it’s about what we contribute and what people learn from our contributions while we are alive and even after we’ve passed on.
Google and other search engines pick up what we post — sometimes almost immediately.
If we don’t post; then our information is not shared and people cannot learn and share what we know (from our posts).
Something to think about.
