I asked Jim Robinson today to delete my account on Free Republic. He asked me to post an opus so some folks would not think that I was banned for no reason. Here is my brief opus:

Thank you Free Republic and Good Bye. This was an excellent forum for many years but now I do not think it is so in my humble opinion. The trend where the forum is going is very clear to me and I do not want to be part of it.

For all the Freepers with whom I have had good relationship and great discussions I want to thank you for all the good time we had together on this forum.

God Bless America and Our Brave Troops.

PS: Now Jim Robinson can ban my account.

I generally agree with your post, but apparently Jim asked this fellow to post an opus.

..Which has to make one wonder.. If jveritas became disenchanted with Jim’s forum, why did he give Jim a heads-up that he is “leaving” in the first place? Plus, he’s been around long enough to know that asking Jim to “ban” his account is a ridiculous request. It was odd. If you want to “leave”, you just log off (if you even bother to do that much) and then never visit the site again. How hard is that?

By the way, I have no plans of ever going anywhere, period, so if you stop seeing my posts it means I’m finally dead.

I always found your translation work enlightening and very helpful; I used it to inform friends, family, and co-workers on otherwise unreported aspects of Saddam's regime and discoveries made in the aftermath of the invasion. I haven’t myself made a post for several months because of “moderator” issues and then on honest inquiry as to why certain posts by me were pulled without explanation was told stop pestering the managers. This is no decent way to treat supporters of FreeRepublic.
