To Mecca from Ground Zero
My Paranoid Brain | 9/15/2010 | Me

Has anyone else thought to check the direction of Mecca from Ground Zero? I used QiblaLocator.

Funny how the Cordoba house lies almost on the line, ain't it? If you rerun it from somewhere within the former WTC1 site, the line goes exactly through the victory mosque.

Must be a coincidence...

Can you find any two points on the globe that don’t form a line?

I think his point is that Ground Zero, the victory mosque and Mecca are on the same line.

Did you take Geometry in school?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Line_(geometry)

Any two points will define a line in a two axis plane.

2 points, sure. The 3rd point on a straight line is a little more than coincidence (if this is true).

Yes, and there are an infinite number of 3 point sets on any arbitrary line. It is the human mind which attaches significance to the location of points. I’m just wondering if the alignment of these three points is significant, or if it’s just coincidence.

I hope Feisal Abdul Rauf is a fast learner.

He now knows a little about US politics.

He now knows what Americans know——that once Obama came out FOR the mosque, Americans knew it would NEVER be built.

OMA! He's right!

> Go to this sight to find a line to Mecca
www.qiblalocator.com
> Change Terrain to Satellite
> Search for “1 wtc, new york, ny”
> Zoom out a couple of clicks
> Search for “2 wtc, new York, ny”
> Zoom out a couple of clicks
> Now move the map so that the X is in the middle of 1 wtc and 2 wtc.

The line to Mecca goes right through the proposed Cordoba house.

Um, Mecca lies to the (general) south east of Manhattan you line goes roughly north east - i’d call that a very large stretch ...

Are you saying that if that property hadn’t been available, we wouldn’t be in this situation?

From what I’ve read this morning, the shortest distance between two points on the globe is not obvious, and is not the straight line between the two points. Google “Great circle”.

I’m going to back away from attaching any significance, or drawing any conclusions at this point. Basically, I’m just saying that it looks to be a true, and I’m throwing it out there to see if it holds up to scrutiny.

Actually, there are three points on this Great Circle Route that are interesting, but only if it's possible to believe the Wahabi Sunni "developers" truly and deliberately chose the Burlington Coat Factory bldg. for this facility and perhaps also for at least one other reason.

The key here is "deliberate," because if not deliberate, than all this is of the most passing interest.

I don't pretend to know in what direction Muslim clerics decode the direction toward the Ka'aba. (They could choose the truly shortest route through Earth's crust, accounting for their supplications made facing the ground.)

Do they even consider Great Circle routes?

Did their venerated "prophet" know Earth was round?

The direction cited here is interesting (but, again, only if these were factors in a deliberate decision) because a line beginning near the center of the present ruin of the Towers does appear to pass through the BCF bldg., and then on toward Mecca; the shortest path between those two points on Earth's surface, and presumably shielded or presented through future prayers of the male heathen "faithful."

Another factor, mentioned in another post here during remembrances of the Outrage on Saturday referred to a map appearing, if I remember correctly, in the New York Post, and carefully plotting the locations where human remains had been discovered from the crime scene. About the only area where human remains are yet to be discovered is the very BCF bldg. (This should not imply any sensitivity for the families of those ritually slaughtered 9/11/01, at least on the part of the Wahabi Sunni developers. It may instead be a factor arising from their own sensitivities toward the ritual cleanliness of the site.

Some of this may account for their present resistance to reasonable suggestions that they move the Mosque elsewhere - perhaps Hoboken - anywhere.

As trivial or unlikely as these circumstances might seem in these heathen's choices for a location for a Madrassa, but such factors may continue to play a role in their intransigence.

On a sphere, or sphere-like solid, a “straight” line can be drawn between any three points on the surface. (That “straight” line conforming the the surface of the solid.)

Interesting.

Have you seen the information on the Shanksville, PA mosque, and it’s similar connection to Mecca? http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/atlas_shrugs/2010/08/the-other-ground-zero-mosque.html

Coincidence? Don’t believe it...

As it turns out, something is goofy with that map to Mecca. If you zoom out to reveal the whole world, and move the starting point all over the globe it does strange things. It seems to do a much better job closer to Saudi Arabia. Unless there is some Islamic rule that defies the math? Or maybe there is some astrological rule? I am sending this disclaimer to point out the likely error and to protect my butt.

So every time someone in that building (Cordoba house) bows down and prays facing Mecca, they are not showing their ass directly towards the WTC!

Looks like the great circle route is shorter. Click two points on the map at this link...
