FLOTUS Michelle Obama and Laura Bush served as keynote speakers yesterday honoring the Flight 93 Shanksville, Pennsylvania 9-11 memorial that resembles the Islamic Red Crescent design. Its design insults the memory of 9-11 hijack victim Tom Burnett, Jr. says his father.
The bereaved man, who asked that his sons name be removed from the site, is deeply offended especially now upon learning four glass blocks remembering the Jihadi hijackers are being added to the aisle of the 40 innocent American victims who took down the plane to prevent it from flying on to Washington.
Tom Burnett, Sr. said, Mr. Murdochs plan just isnt acceptable. Millions of Americans and I find the red crescent of embrace (design) an insult to my son and the others on Flight 93 who engaged in a violent and valiant struggle to take that plane back from the Islamic hijackers.

Did I miss something? I went to the link but no pic?
Looks like it to me, right down to the fact that standing inside faces Mecca. But I must just be an islamophobe
The design is a semi-circle, not a crescent but learning of the mention of the hijackers just got me going back to the NPS to lodge my compaint.
I went through this crescent thing last week and linked to other memmorials that use the broken circle theme of a semi-circle. Compare the Muslim crescent I showed in a post up from this one.

from a fox news article
"A more obvious tribute to the terrorists is hard to imagine," reads the ad, which will be published in the Somerset Daily American and was provided in advance to FoxNews.com. "It is not surprising, then, that the giant crescent would turn out to point to Mecca, and be the centerpiece for the world's largest mosque."...
"All they did was disguise it, nothing's changed," Rawls said, referring to the alterations that have been made to the design, including changing the title of Crescent of Embrace to Circle of Embrace, since the objections were initially raised. link

Somehow, I fail to see how the opening facing southwest points to Mecca unless one circumnavigates the globe over and over again until the angles of deflection eventually hit it. In the above post, I linked the PDF that includes the site plans with North pointing straight up (verified by Google Earth). Mecca is about 22 degrees south of due east.
Any mention of the hijackers ought to be one that everyone has to walk on at the entrance to the park.
I’ll support that.
Not a bad idea but Todd was not the only one in the Roll.
"A mihrab is usually a niche set into the middle of the qibla wall of a building in order to indicate the direction of Mecca."
If you search for mihrab photos you will see that they are a crescent...or simicircular in shape.
Does it point to mecca or not? If so...why?
I know we need to rename a mountian for everyone of them.

Well go cry in your own little pity party because no matter what they do you would be one of those who would find a problem with it because they did not follow your idea, whatever it might be. The reality is that it originally did have a resemblence and they redesigned it.
A Mihrab? Yea, gotcha. What is it about southwest not facing southeast or even a stretch facing northeast that you just don’t get? If we are going to pick a battle, do it on something with just little bit of credibility, otherwise you will be doing nothing but targeting ghosts like the blow-up tanks we used to misdirect German intelligence before D-Day.
Go tell that to the families of the troopers honored at the Michigan Troopers Memorial as shown, which was designed and built before the attacks. It was dedicated just shortly after 9/11.
My what an unpleasant individual you are.
Unable to answer my simple question without hostility.
What is the source for the four glass blocks remembering the jihad highjackers? the article mentions this once and does not follow up.
until I see a solid source I won’t believe it.
So be it, in your opinion.
Who keeps coming up with this crap??? Blocks to honor the hijackers??? Now I’ve heard everything!! God help us!
