The Cordoba Initiatives planned thirteen-story Islamic community center which will be constructed at only 600 feet from Ground Zero, and the ensuing political turmoil that it has created, demonstrates the exact point of ideological battlethat is the civilizational clashbetween Islam and the West. Much of the media has gone off the deep end, painting any opposition to a mosque near Ground Zero as typical American Islamophobia.... Meanwhile hate crimes against Jews continues to outstrip those against Muslims by 6 to 1 with hardly a yawn from the media. Regardless, there are several very important questions on this issue that need to be addressed, including but not limited to the following: (1) Why are those behind the mosque so adamant about building it there? (2) What exactly are Americans allowed to inquire about in relation to the mosque and those behind it? (3) At what point is the American government actually infringing upon the religious practice of Muslims? (4) At what point does a religion become a political movement?
Beginning with the fourth inquiry: A conservative estimate puts the percentage of Muslims in the world who support Radical Islam at 7 percent. That is more than 80 million people who support the goals of al-Qaeda and Hamas, suggesting that Radical Islam, a political movement, is a very powerful and influential strain within Islam.
This is why the United States and its allies are at war. Osama bin Laden and the perpetrators of 9/11, as well as Hamas and Hezbollah, are not some rogue loons, rather they are committed operatives, methodical, and theologically driven. They have financial support, state sponsorship, and even a propaganda infrastructure. While they remain a minority of Islam, they also constitute a large and serious threat to the safety and security of the free world.

9/11/2001 was the Groundbreaking event for the “Islamic Center”, IMO. No ribbon-cutting, just the use of two enormous jets as shovels.
Bttt. Excellent read.
