Over the past week, several political-insider wizards of smart have deemed Republican senatorial hopeful Christine ODonnell unelectable almost taking it to the point of vitriolic screeds youd expect to hear from left-wing commentators, which would probably appear as a guest on MSNBC in their prime time lineup.
Their issue: In an interview, ODonnell had claimed she could be the potential target of political opponents and that she had to be extra careful when she would go home at night.
Theyre following me, she told The Weekly Standard. They follow me home at night. I make sure that I come back to the townhouse and then we have our team come out and check all the bushes and check all the cars to make sure thatthey follow me.
Now suddenly this has raised the ire of some conservative pundits suggesting that she isnt fit for office because of her caution. But actually, she does have cause for concern. According to a video from her campaign it has been documented that operatives from her opponents campaign, Rep. Mike Castle, have in fact attended events she hosted with video cameras. So how would you feel if you were being followed with a video camera?
That being said who are these detractors, as conservative males, to call into question the safety self-concerns of a 41-year-old female in what could be a highly charged political contest? Is it really the smartest thing to do to be so obsessed with the race for a Delaware Republican senatorial nomination that one would make these judgment calls about someones character, especially coming from the political right? Its a bizarre phenomenon to say the least.

If you have been on the internet lately which I doubt the Dem party and Soros front groups have been activated to monitor , video, and track all tea party figures !!!
What's your real Agenda here trying to discredit everyone defending O’ Donnell ?
Pimping notification software. It's a bootleg Chinese version.
PNS is getting quite sophisticated these days. Very powerful stuff.
This version causes some problems with Firefox.
It wants to pop-up a notification box in addition to the audible notification.
I can't make Firefox allow pop-ups permanently for this application.
It's bootlegged so there isn't any tech support.
Still works alright though.
I cannot answer that because I do not work for the campaign and I was not there. You seem to be suggesting something. Spit it out!
Just flaked off another $25.00 to her. Screw the RNC.
Easy. It keeps the kettle from boiling over. No doubt O’Donnell regrets ever mentioning being followed, but that’s an opening for Castle’s people to keep the issue front and center. So she steps into a trap if she goes ahead and prosecutes the privacy invader. Therefore, she wisely decides to let it go quietly, especially if she thinks there is no particular threat to her person, just an irritating invasion of privacy. She reduces her exposure on an issue that doesn’t help her. That’s a good thing.
Not particularly.
The problem seems to be that O'Donnell's supporters are so enamored of her that they are in a bubble.
Yes, she's right on pretty much every issue, she's very attractive and engaging and as articulate as any other candidate.
However, when she starts complaining about typical campaign scrutiny - like people showing up with cameras at her speeches - then it indicates that she lacks the temperament necessary for office.
The fact that her supporters treat normal campaign activity as a sinister conspiracy indicates that they are too tightly-wound.
And then, when a candidate starts claiming that crimes have been committed against her but that she has never bothered to go to the police - well, then we go from being a whiner to paranoia.
And when, taking their cue from the candidate, her supporters start accusing everyone who is not as enamored as they are of being spies and paid agents of the conspiracy - well, then we get into Alex Jones land.
It's not a healthy sign.
What issue is she NOT right on?
If a criminal is arrested for stalking her and he is on the payroll of the Castle campaign, it immediately erases the weirdness of her original claims and makes Castle look horrible.
There is no political downside in that.
Monitored? Of course she is. Who in politics isn't monitored by their opponents and more so by the news media? As I said in my initial post I have no doubt she's being filmed while making stump speeches. That happens ALL the time in politics with political opponents filming their speeches hoping they'll say something dumb that can be used against them. That's how George Allen was brought down in Virginia with the "macaca" nonsense. It could even be the media doing the filming for that matter. Big deal. That's NOT the same as being "followed home" or people lurking in your bushes. She's taking what happens in most campaigns and turning it into something more sinister--all without the least bit of evidence, or even a call to the police. Who's home and office are vandalized and then later stalked at their home and yet they NEVER call the police? Come on. This woman is a nut and/or a liar. Like it or not, there are 2 bad candidates running for the GOP in this race. Could it EVER be that a conservative candidate just sucks??? I mean, is this really so hard to conceive of?
Sorry, if it's naive to not believe things that don't make sense, then sign me up for naive. I don't check my brain at the door just because a conservative makes a fanciful claim she can't back up.
Her tax policy is extremely vague. Yes, taxes need to be cut drastically and the tax code simplified - but not a lot of policy detail on this key issue, or a strategy for guiding such a program through the Senate.
Her instincts seem to be right on this matter, but her website contains no concrete proposals that I could find.
Castle's proposal of tax exemptions for small business is concrete, but insufficient.
Is it expensive and who is Pablo?
Let me see if I got your argument right. You think she’s crazy because she thinks people are out to get her. That’s basically your argument.
Now, it has been proven time and time again that they are in fact trying to get her.
So, she thinks that they’re trying to get her and she’s right.
What she might be guilty of is inexperience, perhaps. She should know, I suppose, that they wouldn’t do exactly what she thinks they might do. She should know that her many many opponents, which for some inexplicable reason now include the NRSC, as well as the Delaware GOP, would not jump her from the bushes. They have done 1000 other nasty things, but Christine should know that they wouldn’t spy on her house, or do anything like that. Ok, gotcha.
Would they have called Christine paranoid a week ago if she said she thought the NRSC was working against her? “Oh Christines crazy,” they’d say, “everyone knows that the NRSC only works for incumbents.”
Christine has many well documented reasons to be paranoid, but she might not be enough of an insider politician to know which dirty tricks they would or would not pull.
Pablo Quang-Chen wrote the software.
It's costly but I sort of ripped it off.
Maybe not, but she's still better than Castle.
No more RINOs. The 'Establishment' has got to go.
'They' need to understand through action that the Tea Party is actually "We The People"!
Right on. Christine for the win 100%
