Interesting take on the recent importation ban for "our protection". -----------------------
"One now arrives to the original article and the event that spurred this rambling conversation. The Washington Times published an editorial September 3rd entitled Government is blocking sale of historic weapons. Actually the title was more along the lines of Obamas Backdoor Gun Ban which is what caused my original gut clench-almost toss to the spam file. Realistically there is no way 8 weeks before the Midterm election that the titular head of the Democratic Party is going to do any such controversial thing. Right now it is his focus to point out Jobs. Jobs. Jobs.- but again I digress.
Contained within the article is a salient quote that I strongly believe should be discussed. The opening paragraph was designed to grab ones attention:
President Obama is afraid of the M1 Garand, the U.S. rifle that helped win World War II, defeating Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan. Administration officials earlier this year moved to block the government of South Korea from selling vintage U.S.-made M1 Garands and M1 carbines to eager stateside collectors.
The State Department confirmed to The Washington Times that it was considering alternative options to deal with the classic rifles. During the Clinton administration, such code words meant melting them down. The government in Seoul was told that this step was being taken for the protection of Americans."

Doesn’t the Ruger Ranch Rifle have the Garrand action? (Available in 7.62 x 39 and 5.56)
the M14 Ruger is a clone of the Garand.
The M1’s in Korea are the actual rifles that won WWII, and saw action in the Korean conflict.
Some were later build but alot are the real deal.
Our American history restricted by the Marxist rat basterd in the white house. Sad day for American history.
Huebolt is correct. Interesting Times we live in.
What communists usually think about.
For instance:
If I could have gotten 51 votes
for an outright ban (2d A.), picking up every one of them...I would have done it.- Nancy Pelosi, 1995
She was a role model for many of us.
Pelosi speaking of Vivian Hallinan who, along with her husband Vincent, was deeply involved with communist activities via association with several U.S. fronts of the Communist Party, a friendship with Daniel Ortega and relations with Fidel Castro.
Tt’s based on the Garand, loosely.
“President Obama is afraid of the M1 Garand, the U.S. rifle that helped win World War II, defeating Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan. “
Time to start posting Garnad pics, and American GIs using them! Let the Kenyan know that we, the true Americans, have a backbone, and will not kneel to this so-called demigod.
3rd US Infantry Regiment, a unit of the United States Army, a.k.a., The Old Guard, guards the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, currently with an unloaded M14 and an unloaded Beretta 9mm. They used to use the Garand and a 1911.
Why unloaded?

Mini 14, as in scaled down M-14. I had a Ruger brochure that touted the Mini 14 XGI in .308. They never released that rifle because of function issues with the bigger cartridge. Shortly after we got the Mini 30.
FWIW
All Garand inspired designs. I always wished that M-16 mags would work in the Mini-14.

Hahahahahahaha
