Today co-anchor Matt Lauer traveled to New Orleans, on Friday, to mark the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and interviewed the likes of former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin, former FEMA Director Mike Brown, current Democratic Mayor Mitch Landrieu and Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, but saved any sort of direct shots at George W. Bush for his interview with Laura Bush.

At a State Department ceremony this week, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice warmly acknowledged the family members of Mark Dybul, whom she was swearing in as the nation's new global AIDS coordinator.
As first lady Laura Bush looked on, Rice singled out his partner, Jason Claire, and Claire's mother. Rice referred to her as Dybul's mother-in-law.
I read her book. There was nothing despicable in it. It increased my admiration for her and her husband which was already high.
As for her actions, you cannot name one thing she’s done that’s been objectionable.
Dolt!
While I vigorously disagree with Laura Bush on the matters of abortion and sodomite “marriage”, she at least exhibits a sense of “geometry and taste” and does so with class and poise.
As the president’s wife, she kept her opinions to herself and supported her husband through it all.
Contrast her with Hillary and Michele.
Now THEY are despicable grom the get go and lousy first ladies to boot.
Big mouthed, foul tempered, glowering, hateful shrews.
I don’t recall her making any statements about gay marriage. But don’t let facts get in the way of your apparent desire to trash Laura.
She is far too nice a person to trash anyone because of their sexual orientation or anything else.
You prove your ignorance. The appearance of which you speak was arranged for Laura to be a speaker long ago, maybe months.
Michelle inserted herself into the event to try to regain popularity she lost during her indulgence in Spain.
You are an uninformed idiot.
Laura is more moderate on this issue. She does not believe that the definition of man and woman in matrimony should be changed but also does not think that gay relationships is anyones business.
Exactly, well said.
I guess it has been a slow news summer, no hurricanes, and the BP blow out didn't produce any “newsworthy” stories. The economy and unemployment are milestones around BHOI and dimocrat necks. So what is the boot licking MSM to do?
That's it! Lets go back and revisit Hurricane Katrina and see what we can still blame Bush for!
Laura Bush is the epitome of a true “lady”! Surely, you were describing the current first lady, weren’t you?

Well, both Presidents Bush were Liberals. However there are two types of Liberals. There is the John Kennedy Liberal and the Ted Kennedy Liberal.
The Bush’s were John Kennedy Liberals. On some issues Bush was a Conservative and on some Issues Bush was a Liberal. However, by FR definition, if there are 10 categories in which you can be Liberal or Conservative and you are Conservative on 9 categories, you are a Liberal.

She should have slapped his idiot face for him.
I forget the exact things she has said but basically she thinks Obama is great.
so count me as the 2nd person you have heard be critical of Laura Bush
Who’s Matt Lauer. ;’)
LAURA BUSH: No, not really. I mean I feel very close to the people on the Gulf Coast and always have. And, and I know what the circumstances were. And of course the President takes the blame in any situation, as we can see now with the new president. But I also knew what George really thought and how he felt about the, the Gulf Coast. We gave unprecedented support. The United States Congress passed large bills. I think $180 billion that George signed and has come to the Gulf Coast. And what weve seen really is so inspirational. The people here, the school people are the ones that Ive been with the most. And they came back, when they were in FEMA trailers or living with relatives and did everything they could to rebuild their schools so kids could come back.
LAUER: I know the people of the region are thankful for the work you and your foundation are doing here. Mrs. Bush thanks for joining us this morning. I appreciate it.
