There is much ado recently about the proposed mosque to be built at Ground Zero and the wife of Imam Rauf has subsequently gone on CNN to state that "It's not even Islamophobia, it's beyond Islamophobia -- it's hate of Muslims," she said. "And we are deeply concerned."
Well, Daisy, I hate to tell you this, but you've hit the nail on the head with me anyway, just not in the manner you think. I also am deeply concerned and have been so for a number of years. I can't speak for anyone one else but I'll tell you a few things I hate...
I hate seeing someone try to force a specific form of religious worship upon me and others under the threat of death.
I hate seeing someone try to force upon me a brutish and archaic form of law which doesn't hold me as an equal before the law.
I hate seeing someone dance with glee when devastating attacks occur on their presumed enemy.
I hate seeing someone who wishes to completely destroy other nations by driving them into the sea.
I hate seeing someone perform an honor killing for some perceived slight, believing it to be a form of justice and an honorable act.
I hate seeing someone who, in this day and age, would stone others to death, often without a trial.
I hate seeing someone indoctrinate young boys, warping them in the process from forever interacting with other societies, into believing that certain groups of people are "evil" and should be murdered outright.
I hate seeing someone perform clitorectomies (female genital mutilation) on young girls for no reason beyond religious dictates.
I hate seeing someone, under the dictates of their religious tomes, lie to anyone not of their religion.
And most of all I hate when somebody can't discern the difference between hating a person or group of people and hating the actions of people while being told sanctimoniously to get my own house in order.
So yes, Daisy, there is hate. And if Muslims, as a people, happen to fall into the category of the things I hate then they have only themselves to blame. Their actions dictate my response.
I'm sorry about that. It's just that I appear to have principals different from theirs.
The muzlims know that their Koran tells them to murder all Jews and all who will not become muzlim...
Unfortunately that's not correct. Many people in the Muslim world can't read and they have no idea what the book actually says other than what they're told. It's those who can read, who do understand what the book says and join anyway that get me.
Of course, if you're told what to believe, or how to interpret a "holy book", then you're in a pickle. The two should be held up to scrutiny. When you can't, or won't, do that you're either gullible, have a predisposition which said religion reinforces or are a religious tyrant bent on forcing your beliefs and values upon others.
JMO.
It’s like being called a racist because you don’t like cranberry sauce...
Christianity, Judaism, etc. are voluntary.
Islam is mandatory on penalty of earthly death.
Islam is worth hating.
It was just a smart-assed quip.
But if you really believe what you just said, maybe it's time for you to refresh your memory about the religious conflicts of the 16th and 17th Centuries...

I'm fully aware of those conflicts and I'm also aware of the foibles of man.
This, however, isn't the 16th or 17th Century so causality doesn't, or shouldn't, play.
My apologies for tweaking your melon.
Ah, but are we really talking about the inadequacies of the internet, or merely the inadequacies of you? It wasn't sarcasm anyway -- I was being a smart-ass, and I'm not aware of an HTML tag to stop that....

I suppose I could instead have pointed to anti-Islam (or anti-Catholic, or anti-Mormon, or anti-illegal immigrant) posts right here at FR that fit your description of what you hate.... would that have been more to the point?
My apologies for tweaking your melon.
No worries, I'm just having fun with it.

If you say so. It looked like sarcasm to me....sarcasm
: a sharp and often satirical or ironic utterance designed to cut or give pain
It sounded pretty cutting to me as do your subsequent statements.
...and I'm not aware of an HTML tag to stop that....
Neither am I. Self restraint, however, seems to work at times.
Oh I agree. Mohammed was as insane as they come.
Yeah, sure, whatever.... you're imputing far more seriousness to our discussion than it merits.
