Nation's battered satellite environmental monitoring program Top Climate Scientists Speak out on the Satellitegate Scandal By John O'Sullivan Monday, August 16, 2010 US Government admits global warming satellite sensors degraded - temperatures may be out by 10-15 degrees. Now five satellites in controversy. Top scientists speak out.
In an escalating row dubbed Satellitegate further evidence proves NOAA knew of these faults for years. Worlds top climate scientists and even prior governmental reports cite underfunding and misallocation as the trigger for spiraling satellite data calamities. Key flaws with five satellites undermines global data.
Most disturbing of all is that it took publication of my article last week to persuade the authorities to withdraw the errant NOAA-16 satellite from service. But as Dr. John Christy indicates, the real Satellitegate is not about one satellite. The scandal is endemic with comparable flaws across the entire network; the scandal is also that it took a tip off from a member of the public and the widespread broadcast of my article before one of the offending junk boxes, NOAA-16, got taken down.

Whatever happened to NOAA’s “above average” hurricane season this year?
Ping.
They have taken out of commission thousands of land based temperature measurement sites with some having 100 years of accumulated data. Many are rural and haven’t been afflicted with the heat island that has grown around larger cities.
I’m sure they are in the process of losing the data as it may be “inconvenient”.
This is like NOAA’s problem with locating temperature sensors near air conditioners, on top of concrete and asphalt pads, roof tops and other places that are hotter by nature then claiming those sensors show global warming.
Just a bit too early in the hurricane season to judge. We'll know more by mid-September.
Linked article is definitely worth reading.
Oh, now they have a new excuse for mis-predicting..... sea water color.
First of all, it’s good to see Canada still has a “free press”.
Second, when will somebody finally drive the final nail into the “global warming” scam coffin?
The jig is up on “global warming” and it’s like, so over..
How stupid would you have to be to fall for that scam at this point?
Too many so-called “scientists” and associated government administrators ignore data that disproves their agenda;also there has long been a reluctance to keep funding the data collection by still working old technology in favor of funding some new flashy gizmos.
Good article, but I’m sick of people appending “gate” to everything.... sheesh!
When “science” is “confirmed” by consensus, it’s called politics.
“When science is confirmed by consensus, its called politics.”
Well stated and ever so true.
It's Gategate!
(sorry)
No that was the Professor Gate's Beergate.

Trying to figure out how to use "Frankly, I don't give a damn" here, but I do give a damn.
