Actually, it wasn't a movie that scared me the most, it was a TV episode.
The Galaxy Being on The Outer Limits. Scared the hell out of me as a kid.

The H-ManIt was a cheesy Japanese rip-off of The Blob but it scared the crap out me at seven years of age.

Not when I was a kid, but I remember going to see "Alien" in the movie theater. It was a late showing. I came home and took my trash out to the dumpster, thinking about that movie. As I emptied the trash, a feral cat jumped out of the dumpster with a very gutteral squeal.
It's the closest I can recall I've ever come to passing out from fright...

I was also scared sh-tless of Darth Vader when I went to see Empire as a four year old. Talk about being scared sh-tless when you're four years old. There was a cartoon character called Crabby Appleton that used to scare the bejeezus out of me at four years old.
That's the very first screen character of any kind that ever scared me.

I only remember the trailer and I am not 100% sure of the title but it was along the lines of “The Car That Eats People”. Figure it had to be between 72-76. It was a creepy flick for a little kid. No doubt it is MST3K caliber now.

...a TV series: One Step Beyond (and the theme music creeped me out). Dittos. Even as a teenager, that music would get my spine tingling late at night.

"A 1970s made for tv thriller Bad Ronald."
I don't think I ever saw that one. Just checked it out on IMDB and it looks very interesting. I see it's available for purchase on DVD, but it's not available on Netflix. It's a shame that a lot of the made-for-tv horror/thriller movies have never been released on DVD as I remember several that I would like to have copies of. Among them: "The Ghost of Flight 401," "Crowhaven Farm," "The House That Would Not Die," and others.
