The Democrats now have hopes that trotting out Michelle Obama before the November 2010 elections will cause her adoring underlings to overlook the mess that has been created by her husband and Congress. They may find that instead the little people may begin to look at her "Let them eat cake" attitude with jaundiced eyes. What a contrast with Eleanor Roosevelt who was also a First Lady during a time of economic depression.

And she is definitely not Jacqueline Kennedy.
One would have to be a lady first before one could be considered first lady.
for sure..but even more important Antoinett O is no Laura Bush.
She’s more like the first wookie.
Michelle’s not a lesbian? How would they know? They’re both communists. Are they implying that Michelle’s not White? Whoa, that’s racist, isn’t it?
I’d say that Michelle has more in common ideologically with Eleanor R than she does racially or sexually. I’d also go so far as to say neither lady would win a beauty contest, but that would be shallow, although another point of commonality just the same.
Ugly?
and Eleanor Rooooooosevelt was a commie, like her husband and a closet lesbo....
neither of them were worth a tinkers damn....and if plain jane eleanor didnt show her distain with the common man, she kept it to herself...so what....she was still a marxist with leanings toward crony capitalist...
I dont need the Rooooosevelts or the zer0bamas to be nannies over me or my family.....efff them all....
Hey, come on now, Chewie is a good wookie, and he never did anything to warrant being compared to the likes of Moochelle amabO!
Right. Eleanor had a brain. Eleanor had class and breeding. Eleanor was old money. She was Christian. She prayed a lot.
No kidding. I lived the era of Jacqueline Kennedy and michele doesn’t even come close. Also, they tried to sell michele as the new Jacqueline Kennedy but...I gotta tell ya...Jacqueline Kennedy NEVER would have worn some of those awful outfits. No way. She KNEW how to dress appropriately for the occasion and she dressed well as Lady Bird Johnson, Laura Bush and Nancy Reagan. Always the epitome of ladies.
And, so I’ve read, after no long first lady, Eleanor r. traveled without Secret Service, choosing instead to keep a weapon at hand in the car - which she drove.
Eleanor was an amazing lady.
I don’t get the hatred some FReepers have for her.
Let them eat Bisquick!
The long suffering Eleanor Roosevelt was trotted out in spite of the navy cross she carried. At least she always delivered her message with dignity and in good taste. The dress code in those days was far superior. Even the Progressives were far better educated than they are today. However, the message hasn’t changed much.
Communism is Communism no matter the class or lack of decorum.
