Rep. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) suggested a novel use Saturday for a 100-square-mile ice sheet that has broken off Greenland.
An iceberg four times the size of Manhattan has broken off Greenland, creating plenty of room for global warming deniers to start their own country," Markey said in a statement. So far, 2010 has been the hottest year on record, and scientists agree arctic ice is a canary in a coal mine that provides clear warnings on climate."
Some scientists have attributed the breaking off of the ice sheet to abnormally warm temperatures this year.
Markey, who chairs the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming, co-authored the House version of the climate change bill that's currently stalled in the Senate.
He said it was "unclear how many giant blocks of ice it will take to break the block of Republican climate deniers in the US Senate who continue hold this critical clean energy and climate legislation hostage."
We’ve got our own country congress-critter, now you GTFO you statist piece of excrement.
well ok then!
Markey is a destible excuse for a human being. My response to him is simply ES&D. Maybe he should call his buddies down in Brazil to inquire of their trpical winter they aer having./s
Here’s the problem with his suggestion - Right about the time that we get it running right with little to no taxation, no interference from the kooks on the left, the tree huggers, the abortion proponents and those that actually follow the Constitution, we’d be stormed by those same morons that realize that we’ve recreated what we had, and they’d start trying to take it over and ruin it again.
Correction for dislexic fingers;
Maybe he should call his buddies down in Brazil to inquire of the tropical winter they are enjoying.
“Some scientists have attributed the breaking off of the ice sheet to abnormally warm temperatures this year. “
It was 45 degrees below instead of the normal 46 degrees below.
Markey is another Massachusetts idiot. We have plenty of ‘em up here.
arctic ice is a canary in the coal mine?
hmmmmm
We did, it’s the USA. He can go to Europe where they love is global warming kind.
Done - we’ll just cut out DC and New England.
I’m curious to see what you libs do without our money to support you. :)
Since Representative Markey is convinced of global warming, and since those who agree with him are vastly in the minority, I say we formally invite him to take his own advice. After all, it’s worth what we didn’t pay for it. He can form his own country there, make himself El Presidente, should he desire it. But as for those of us who have the temerity to disagree with our employee: I have something else he can float. Himself.
You know, we’d really, really like that.
A simple solution to the Ed Markeys of the world would be to ban the interstate transmission of electricity. Let Massachusetts generate its own, or return to wilderness.
So, illegals can walk over the border and avail themselves of health, education, and welfare benefits. However, if an actual US citizen doubts global warming exists (or that its caused by man), then that person has his citizenship revoked. Go figure.
I'm not a "scientist", but I thought an increase an temperature would cause a glacier to retreat. Glaciers are formed because the snow does not melt in the summer, and year over year it accumulates. Its massive size causes it to slowly slide down the mountains and fall into the oceans. One would normally correlate larger chunks breaking off as an increasing size of the glacier. Likewise smaller chunks breaking off would correlate to a retreating glacier. But I'm not a "scientist".
Congressman Markey, you belong in a rubber room.
