Under New Health Insurance Rules Blue Cross Blue Shield Forced to Change Name

The law of unintended consequences has struck again as mega health insurance provider Blue Cross Blue Shield was informed today by government lawyers that they will have to change the name of their company if they wish to remain in compliance with the new health care reform legislation. This decision is based largely on a recent landmark lawsuit against the United States in which the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals agreed that plaintiff -famous atheist and part time human being- Michael Newdow’s civil rights had been violated by Blue Cross Blue Shield’s use of Christian imagery in their company name and logo. This court further established that as the group, thanks to health care reform, is now a defacto state agency they could not maintain such imagery without running afoul of past court decisions in regard to the matter of separation of Church and State.

Spokespersons for the insurance giant have issued a statement claiming that they will not appeal the decision. They have also notified the general public that, so as to remain in compliance with the government’s policy on restricting the use of religious symbolism, they will henceforth be known as Blue Crescent Blue Star . This news was greeted with great appreciation by Newdow who called the decision “proof positive that even in this cynical age miracles can occur.”

This is absolutely untrue. So far as I know. I cannot -however- attest to it being outside the bounds of the possible. In fact I would not at all be surprised if something like this occurred at some point.

What is not true? That it is not your blog?

You have gone so far as to state that the companies will not appeal IIRC.

Do you have any outside news source that corraborate your story?

The story is not true. It is a satire. It was posted here under the keywords satire, and sarcasm . It is posted at TVP under a header of Not Really the News which is described, on the site, as "stories based on the news which are largely, if not entirely, satirical."

I am sorry for the confusion.
